Nakita ko lang tong post sa FB and honestly this is why I disagree when people reduce Wattpad stories to “puro kilig lang.”

One thing I’ve always appreciated about some Filipino Wattpad authors—especially Jonaxx—is marunong silang magsingit ng social commentary without making the story feel preachy. Minsan nasa dialogue lang, nasa character perspectives, or random discussions within the story, pero mapapa-isip ka talaga.

Reading this excerpt from No. 1 Girl in today’s political climate feels eerily relevant. Yung point about restorative justice, accountability, blind fanaticism, and people reducing everything into political camps parang exact discourse ngayon online. And honestly, this also ties into the recent discussion here about authors being vocal politically. Kasi minsan people act like kapag hindi nagpo-post ng essays sa x or hindi vocal online, wala nang pakialam yung author. But stories can be a medium for political and social beliefs too. Literature has always reflected society naman.

I’m not saying readers shouldn’t criticize authors or hold them accountable. But I think some people underestimate how much values, beliefs, and societal observations are embedded in fiction itself.

Kaya minsan natatawa ako kapag sinasabing “Wattpad lang yan.” Some of these stories are literally shaping discussions about morality, politics, justice, class divides, relationships, etc. especially for younger Filipino readers.

Found this on x, and apparently ATL is already conceived in ate j's genius mind 2018 pa lang!!! Grabeee, im in awe of her mind. Also, the fact na 2018 nya pa to tinease and recently lang nag-start yung ATL. She really has many tricks up her sleeve.
