Just randomly popped in my head & wanted to ask before I forget. I want to say no he doesn’t. I don’t know though.

Suggestions on parent contact?

Hi -

I landed a long term subbing position for a 6th grade classroom. I’m really excited to get started, but being relatively younger (23) I’ve been overthinking the point of staying in contact with parents.

I guess I don’t have much frame of reference. Over the year, how much are you reaching out to parents and for what reasons? They never really went over this in detail in undergrad, or in my internship.

I’m not worried about parent teacher conferences, but things like calls or emails home, disciplinary stuff, courtesy messages, course updates- are you guys even doing this kind of thing anyway? Again, I believe I’m overthinking this.

I just don’t want to feel awkward about this going into the year. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Also, if you are a parent yourself, maybe it would help if you told me what you would prefer? As in, how would you want me to stay in contact?

Thanks -

I’m afraid of moths

When I was like 9 the house we moved into had a dope treehouse. The previous homeowner was an architect so it was huge and fully kitted out with furniture, windows, etc.

Well one random morning I went up to sweep it out. I casually lifted up a picture off the wall to switch another into the frame, and the entire space behind it was covered in hundreds of moths. Like, a wall of moths all huddled together.

Naturally I screamed and didn’t go back to the treehouse for weeks. Decades pass, I have stared down the barrel of a gun that jammed yet I still run from moths.

Do you have a similar story? Lol

Plenty beat

I get downvoted like crazy in the hot take threads for this opinion Lol. the raps are great per usual but Idk what he was thinking with that beat it sounds terrible

Low effort rinse repeat drums, that weird melody duh-duhhhh, duhh-duhhh-DUHHH + the bell sound fx. It all just sounds so awkward to me, just draaags on.

I think it’s a cohesive song for sure but this is like my White/Gold vs Blue/Black, I genuinely do not know what people are hearing.

I mean try listening to Honey Roasted, Thank God, Kapeesh, Smokin Kiki, Same 24, V, Sonje, Kinglish, and Regina, and then turn on Plenty it’s such a buzzkill beat.

Mach beat selection is what got me into his music & this song is so bad to me that it actually comes full circle and kinda fascinates me

Idk why I’m so passionate about this take hahahah this is all not deep at all. Just wanted to rant for a second and see if anyone is here with me

What are some little sayings that resonated with you?

It could come from anyone, a teacher, a video clip, a parent, a clinic, maybe someone that’s not even a drummer.

Basically, little pieces of info/mantras/technique/trying new stuff/etc. that influenced your learning/practicing/performance/discipline?

Need a little reassurance

Hi everyone, I made the decision to take on a long term subbing job in the fall. It will be my first year teaching outside of university work. This job is somewhat of a mutual favor(?), it’s a family friend going on maternity leave.

My parents are pushing me to search for a permanent job, and are concerned that I’ll be out of work after the subbing is up.

I’m under the impression that I’ll be able to find another long term subbing job after, and my overall goal is to chain them together for the rest of the year, saving up to move out in the spring, and then searching for full time employment in the fall of next year. In the meantime, I’ll be getting more experience in the field without tying myself down to a school that I might not grow well into.

I am already committed to this job, but if any of you can help me feel a little better about this, in any way, that would be much appreciated. I feel like I’m going to be okay, it’s just that I really jumped at this offer, and now I wonder if I should have waited and searched for a permanent spot. I think the experience could help. At the age of 23, I think I’m still growing into myself, and I want to be as confident as possible going into my first permanent spot.

TLDR: seeking reassurance that long term subbing is an alright path for a college graduate

Do spiders hate any specific color lights?

Maybe this is a stupid question. I don’t like spiders at all. Please keep away from me! No offense to spider lovers. I appreciate their help but I don’t need to see one.
