Financial Assistance/Sideline Ideas

Hello! I’m writing this because I’m in a tight spot, and I don't know where to start.

My mom passed away last December, and I am not on speaking terms with my dad because he owes me a massive debt and has refused to pay it yet, so I had to cut him off (temporarily) for my own peace of mind. Additionally, he was not that present in my daily life even when my mom was still alive because he has other families to take care of. He is currently looking after my half-siblings, whose mother also passed away. I know they need him more than I do right now since I at least have my scholarship, and I know I can be independent without him around.

I live with my maternal grandparents (Mama and Papa), but they are senior citizens, getting weaker, and becoming forgetful. I also have a Tito and Tita, but they are raising two young kids (high school and elementary) and I refuse to ask them for daily money or become a burden to them.

Right now, my only solid foundation is that I am a varsity athlete at one of the Big 4 universities. I have a 100% tuition scholarship, a monthly allowance, and free food from the school. I cannot afford to lose this, so my academics and training have to remain my top priority.

My grandparents give me around ₱300 to ₱1,000 a week for my baon, but with inflation and personal/school necessities, it’s just not enough anymore.

Thus, everything has been so heavy and hard to process since December. Because of this, I also filed for a Leave of Absence (LOA) this 1st year, 2nd sem because I just couldn't handle it all at once, and I'm about to start my therapy soon. Yet, I still want to build my own source of income, but my schedule is incredibly tight due to classes and training. So

**I need advice on:**
1 **Working student/Varsity-friendly sidelines:** Are there online gigs, tutoring, or flexible part-time jobs that can fit into a chaotic athlete schedule? (Since I’m from a Big 4 school, I can tutor high school or college subjects if anyone knows where to find clients).

2 **University/Government Assistance:** Are there specific student emergency grants, student assistant (SA) roles, or LGUs/government programs (like DSWD AICS for burial/financial assistance or student aid) that I can apply for given my situation?

3 **General advice:** How do I navigate this without burning out or risking my scholarship?

Thank you in advance! 🤍
