New Davis Vantage Pro2 console

In general I like my new VP2 station and Weather Link console. My old console has been relegated to my astro observatory ISS (temp, hum and wind only).

On the new console I can't figure out how to get monthly total precip (from my station) for anything but the current month, (I dont have any past months yet, but I'm looking ahead).

When in the monthly data tab, all the info seems to be climatological or climatological forecast (future), not data from my station. Graphs have the instantaneous info, but no numerical monthly rain totals. I called Davis support and asked about this and after checking with someone else, he said that past monthly totals from my station were not available on the console. Same for annual, I can't see a numerical value for year-to-date precip, only the height of a bar on a graph.

I know this info is available on weatherlink.com for my station, but I would have preferred that the console had this info for my station instead of all the climatological data for my city

I'm hoping I'm incorrect about the and someone else with one of these can set me straight?

EDIT: year-to-date precipitation is displayed on current tab along with current month precip-- still can't find station monthly precip amounts

New Davis VP2 coming tomorrow plus weird issue

After 15 years my old VP2 transmitter eats through a battery in less than 24h and the solar is completely shot, so I purchased a whole new system so I could also have the new display.

Oddly I dont know when it actually started to fail, because I always had it set to transmit on ch1 and it turns out someone in my neighborhood (I dont know who) also has a VP2 transmitting on ch 1. I didn't know I was l receiving the other systems data until I had trouble with my rain gauge not registering. One could argue that I could just stay on his system, but I really want my own wind data. Knowing there is another system nearby has explained a lot of weird problems I've had in the past that I just couldn't explain. So bizarre!

The Sun in Ha 5/8/2026

I just received a Sky Watcher Heliostar 100 hydrogen alpha solar scope. I've seen the sun many times in white light, but never in Ha. This is my first solar image and I I dont yet have the proper camera, nonetheless, I thought I'd share this first attempt just for kicks. Zoom in bit to see more details.

Caught this on the trail cam the other night. We have a couple of generations of Shubunkins living there. I wasn't aware Herrons hunted at night!

I've been a Redditor for 14 years and have never been banned from a sub. I had a legit post moved to a thread where it wouldn't be seen because of the hundreds of other posts in that thread. There were many complaints from others about this particular rule. I received a message from the mod telling me about the rule and I replied "stupid rule", he replied "OK", I replied "Good answer". That was the extent of it.

He then first banned me from messaging him and then permanently banned me from the sub.

Am I incorrect in my sense that this was an abuse of mod power? I never complained publicly or never had any controversial or downvoted comments. A permanent ban from a sub that I had been helpfully participating in doesn't seem like a healthy way to run things.

Not sure if this is still available, but it was the "cloud bible" when I was in grad school back in the day

I've been passionately involved in stargazing and amateur astronomy for 5 decades. I see a lot of "photos" on this sub that are very unrealistic, being more creative photoshop endeavors as opposed to representing anything close to what one sees while stargazing. Some are beautiful and fanciful and I appreciate them for their artistic expression, but is that the nature of this sub? I dont care either way, just wondering.

I was viewing the sun today using an ES102 refractor and white light filter. There seemed to be a lot of sunspots so I put a camera on for a quick shot.
