[general] Why is Gideon’s last name “Nav”?

Sorry if this is a dumb question/has an obvious answer/has been asked a bunch of times, but I can’t find anything about it. What does “Nav” mean and why was she given this name? Who would’ve given it to her? Is it just the generic surname given to indentured servants on the Ninth?

Is it possible to worship Ganesha without identifying as Hindu?

I have felt for years now as though Ganesha has been calling to me in subtle ways, but lately it’s been turned up to 11. I offered him some incense a few days ago for the first time, but I’m not certain it’s okay to worship him (or other Hindu deities) without belonging to the religion itself. Is it appropriate or not appropriate to worship Ganesha without being Hindu?

Thank you in advance.

Have the Theoi helped you with any anxiety/fears you have?

Obligatory disclaimer: I am in therapy and take medications for these fears/phobias/anxieties, so I am doing the mundane work too.

I am cripplingly terrified of earthquakes and tsunamis, as a person who lives in California and has been through a number of large earthquakes. My fear is to the point that I have a panic attack at least once every couple of days (I also have PTSD from a 7.1 we had in 2019, so that doesn’t help).

I’ve considered starting to worship Poseidon because of this fear. Zeus has actually helped me a lot with my phobia of thunderstorms, so I was wondering if Poseidon could help with this issue, if only in the sense that worshipping the God of these things would make me feel as though I had some level of connection and peace with whatever happens, as I could be close to the God who rules over them, if that makes sense.

I wanted to know if anyone had similar experiences with any of the Theoi and their fears.

My friend committed suicide last week. Predictably, I’ve been extremely distraught. The day it happened I lit candles for Hekate and Hermes and prayed for Them to guide his soul to the afterlife, and lit incense for Hades and Persephone to protect him. But now I’m feeling the call to pray to Charon to help him across the river safely. Since he struggled so much in life, I want him to be able to reach the Lethe, and forget the pain he was suffering through.

Has anyone here ever prayed to Charon before? Would anyone if you haven’t? And did the ancients ever pray to Charon, or only place a coin with the dead person? I would do that if I’d had access to my friend’s body, but I didn’t. Should I give Charon a coin as an offering?
