Patrice Baumel - Probably the best gig I attended this year! (Mumbai 2026)

Patrice Baumel played for 7 hours straight and I genuinely don’t think there was a single minute that felt off. Just insane, Pied Piper shit.

I thought Marsh and Klangkuenstler were going to be my gigs of the year, but this one is right up there with them — arguably the best gig I’ve attended this year so far.

Anyone else at the gig? How was your experience?

August is looking really promising for Mumbai!

Really looking forward to this month as every week has one great artist after another landing in Mumbai:

#1 2nd Aug’26 - BCCO Showcase - Features artists like Grace Dahl (she was part of Klangkuenstler’s Rotterdam Outworld show)

#2 9th Aug’26 - SHDW would be performing at antiSOCIAL and Nastia at Hylo

#3 16th Aug’26 - Patrice Bäumel is performing an all night long (7 hour) set at antiSOCIAL. Saw him perform at Sounds Good Festival 2025 and have been a fan ever since

#4 21st Aug’26 - Ezequiel Arias is performing at antiSOCIAL. Probably one of the best upcoming artists from Anjunadeep

There is also Joyhauser, Creeds, Kohra x Monophonik. It will be a crazy month. What all gigs are you attending out of these?

Per Pleks + Underground Parking Lot Rave! (Gurgaon 2026)

Finally got to attend my first gig in Delhi NCR despite growing up there, and TBM definitely picked a memorable one.

An underground parking lot rave is such a cool concept, and props to The Berlin Movement for actually pulling it off with a stacked lineup featuring artists like Per Pleks and Luna Fields.

The only letdown was the sound system, it was honestly pretty rough. I’m far from an audiophile, but it definitely took away from the experience. Add the sauna-like heat underground, and it got a little hard to enjoy at times.

Still, massive respect to TBM for trying something different. Hoping they keep pushing the scene forward.

Nordfold LFG! (antiSOCIAL, Mumbai 2026)

I absolutely loved Nordfold’s set at Anjunadeep in Mumbai this March, so I had to catch him again yesterday. Another killer set and this time, no Bollywood mashups either lmao

Were you there too? How was your experience?

My Top 10 Mumbai Ice Cream/ Gelato Places (Ranked)

I have an ice cream problem.

As a kid, I was taught that ice cream was a summer-only food. Then I grew up and unlocked the greatest adult superpower: free will.

Now I eat ice cream in winters, during the rains, after dinner, before dinner, sometimes instead of dinner. So I decided to channel this addiction into something productive and rank Mumbai's best ice cream places.

After eating my way through 20+ places and consuming what I can only assume was 25,000 calories, here's my completely objective, scientifically inaccurate ranking. The only metric: How likely am I to go out of my way just to eat here?

Honourable Mention: Nuvola – Their Mulberry Gelato deserves government protection. Coppetto - for solid gelatos.

#10 – Gupta Kulfi & Ice Cream (Image 1)
Good kulfi. Tons of flavours. Pocket-Friendly.

#9 – Oh Dough! (Image 2)
Warm cookies + gelato is a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, the cookies were a hit or miss for me (don't believe every reel you see).

#8 – Kold Karobar (Image 3)
Tried the peanut butter and dark chocolate combo. It somehow being vegan and sugar-free made me question everything I know about desserts. Bonus points for genuinely interesting flavours.

#7 – Batch 06 (Image 4)
Their hyper-realistic fruit "shorties" are a little overhyped, but credit where it's due—they made me enjoy an orange-flavoured ice cream, which I previously thought was impossible.

#6 – Ice Cream Works Gold (Image 5)
If I'm craving a classic, indulgent, non-fruit ice cream, this is probably my first choice. No gimmicks, just really well-made ice cream.

#5 – Indu Ice Cream (Image 6)
Was influenced by Saloni Kukreja? Yes. Will the ice creams here change your life? No. The ingredients do feel premium, the flavours are creative, and it's genuinely good ice cream place.

#4 – Eatally (Image 7)
This random cloud kitchen has absolutely no business making ice cream this good. It's ridiculously light and fluffy—like eating a sweet cloud. The Lemon Custard flavour is my go to.

#3.5 – MeeMee’s (Image 8) - I have MeeMee’s affliction and I cannot lie. Those rollies, those toasties…I had a phase where they were my breakfast.

#3 – Naturals Now (Image 9)
This place introduced me to tadgola and the eighth wonder that is tadgola + malai ice cream combo. I would happily run barefoot through Sanjay Gandhi National Park while fighting leopards if that's what it takes to get the tadgola sundae here.

#2 – Taj Ice Cream (Bohri Mohalla) (Image 10)
I'm biased towards fruit ice creams, and this place absolutely delivers. Big fruit chunks, actual fruit flavour, none of that essence nonsense. Also, I could snort that masala they add on top their guava ice cream.

#1 – McDonald's (Image 11)
I know. This is not a ragebait.

I don't care.

Call it frozen palm oil. Call it processed sugar. Call it whatever you want. The Brownie Soft Serve has had me in a chokehold for years. That soft serve texture, the chocolate sauce, the brownie pieces... I will defend this ranking with my life.

What am I missing? Always looking for excuses to consume more ice cream in the name of "research."

Americano Review (finally made it out of the waitlist)

For months, Americano had been that name I kept bumping into. Every "India's Best Restaurants" list, every food blog, every other person I met. I wanted in. Problem was, so did half of Mumbai. The waitlist was looong. Eventually I stopped trying to be clever about it, grabbed the first slot they threw at me (three weeks out, of course), and locked it in. Here’s my comprehensive review of the place:

We started with the Sweetcorn "Ribs" (Image 2) - The internet's darling. It's bhutta. Cut and plated fancy, but bhutta. Probably for the rich people of Mumbai — this is their introduction to something a thela on Marine Drive has been perfecting for decades. Tasty, sure. Worth it? For my middle class mind, the maths just didn't math - 5.5/10

The Shaved Brussels Sprouts (Image 3) followed - A salad. It existed. Moving on - 6/10

Ordered some drinks to wash away my disappointment so far, Worli Bird (Mezcal) and Horniman Sour (Bourbon) (Image 4) - Boozy, characterful, a ray of hope - 7/10

Then the kitchen finally showed up. The Orecchiette (Image 5) - Properly handmade, sitting in a rich sauce with lamb and fennel sausage. I could have happily ordered twice - 8/10

The Black Truffle Cappelletti (Image 6) came next — Little burst of truffle filling on the first bite, clinically well made - 7.5/10

Garlic bread (Image 7) - My favourite part about eating a pasta - mopping the sauce with a garlic bread and this fluffy bread did its duty well - 7/10

Round two of drinks, The Cardinal (Scotch & Irish) and Shiro Whey (Pisco) (Image 8) - Even better than the first two drinks - 7.5/10

Then, the Tiramisu (Image 9) - The actual reason I was here. Rich mascarpone, grainy sugar catching against my teeth (which I liked), all the right notes hit. Solid. Still, not the best I have had in Mumbai so far - 7.5/10

Talking about ambiance - the place was buzzing. Packed, but the fun kind of packed, where you feel you’re part of something. Service was great too and the staff were warm. Americano is a solid restaurant, no doubt. But when you keep landing on every ‘best of India’ list, people walk in expecting to be blown away and I just…wasn’t. Left dinner still wanting something more, couldn’t tell what exactly.

Also, I did skip their famed pizzas. Guess that’s my excuse to try getting on their waitlist again lmao

Overall rating - 7.7/10

Across - Modern Himalayan Cuisine (Review)

Visited Across in Fort recently after hearing a lot of good things about their take on Himalayan cuisine.
For context, I grew up in Delhi NCR, and Yeti was always my go-to place for Himalayan comfort food. So I probably went in with pretty high expectations.

Here’s what I tried:

Pork Trotter with Tingmo (Starter) – 6/10
The pork was cooked really well, but the flavour profile just wasn’t for me. The tingmo was soft, light and fluffy, though I’ve definitely had better.

Ema Datshi with Tingmo & Bhutanese Red Rice (Main) – 7/10
This was probably my favourite dish of the meal. It was spicy, rich and comforting, but somehow still didn’t hit the same way as some of the Ema Datshi I’ve had before. Good, just not memorable.

Su-Cha Panna Cotta (Dessert) – 7.5/10
I’m an easy sell when it comes to desserts, and this was a well-executed panna cotta. Enjoyed it, but it wasn’t something I’d specifically go back for.

Cocktails – 7/10
Tried the Roll in the Field (gin + soju), Cherry Poppins (vodka), and Valley Sour (whiskey). All were balanced, boozy enough and easy to drink, but none really stood out.

The ambience was probably my favourite part of the experience. Warm lighting, cozy interiors and a relaxed vibe made it a nice place to spend an evening. Service was also prompt and friendly.

Overall, I’d still recommend giving Across a shot, especially if you’re curious about Himalayan cuisine. Maybe I just didn’t pick their best dishes. Personally though, I don’t see myself making a second visit anytime soon.

Overall: 7/10

Fenim0re baby! (Mumbai 2026)

I honestly don’t remember when did Fenim0re start playing and how time just slipped away. One of the most unique sounds I have heard in the industry so far. Mad pied piper!

Were you also there at the gig? How was your experience?

Le Youth - I Will Leave a Light On (Mumbai 2026). What a banger set!

WHAT A SET. I don’t know about schranz or hard techno or hard groove but this year definitely has been about melodic house for me. Marsh, CRi, Eli & Fur, Romain Garcia and now Le Youth. Again, today’s gig was one of the better sets I have attended in my life so far.

So crowd was great (I don’t want to age shame in 2026 but what was up with so many men my father’s age at the gig too) , the transitions were smooth as butter and I honestly didn’t mind seeing Wes on mandy and running around everywhere lmao

Also, Maurya bhai, if you see my post. I want you to know that everyone around me thought your set was banger. You are a find!

Barbara Lago was on fire! (HÖR Mumbai 2026)

One of the better gigs I attended so far in Mumbai this year. sLick continues its streak of bringing in banger artists as a promoter group.

I personally enjoyed Barbara Lago and Aida Arko’s set a lot. By the time Felicie came to the deck a good chunk of people were either leaving or just seemed tired, I guess that makes sense if you have a gig going on for 9 hours. See you all at Fenim0re!

How will I get over this? (Outworld Mumbai 2026)

Hands down one of the best gigs (arguably the best) in India so far.

The production was amazing, yes it was not probably the kind of production we have seen at Outworld in other countries but I think it is as good as it can get in India presently. My only slight gripe was the it was a tad bit too bright.

The crowd was top notch. Probably my first gig where I didn’t see a constant stream of people trying to push their way to the front. Everyone was busy enjoying themselves.

The management was very well executed. The scare about rigorous testing at the gig seemed to be a misnomer and I didn’t find anything anyone being tested for anything at any point of time. No smoking zone at the gig did seem to be a buzz kill though.

And the more I talk about the set, it will still be less. I don’t how the man does it but I do know my legs are going to kill me tomorrow.

Mumbai, we are so back!

I came to the gig hoping to forget my sorrow of Circo Loco getting cancelled and Romain bhai didn’t disappoint! Were you at the gig too?
