Are there any Hmong people attending CSUMB or living in the Monterey area?? I’m 25f and I would love to connect!
Long story short: I am in my 2nd week of grad school to become an SLP and I’m starting to have MAJOR doubts. I was never drawn to the aspect of having to do assessments and give diagnoses, I was always drawn to the therapy aspect of the field. I am worried about drowning in paperwork, student loan debt, and meetings and not having time for direct client care. I also don’t do well in high stress environments.
In the meantime while I’m spiraling in grad school, I want to learn more about becoming a SLPA. Is there any way I can become a SLPA in California without having to do more schooling? I’ve done all of the leveling classes that got me into grad school and I’m wondering if those are enough.
For those who are currently SLPAs in California, do you feel well compensated? I am single and have no dependents and will likely just stay at home rent free. Is this a career that will sustain me my whole life?
I appreciate any insight you guys have! (Even if you’re not based in CA)
