Two months since leaving a relationship built on absolute deception. Is it normal for the pain to hit again today as if it all just ended yesterday?

Early June this year, I blocked the man I thought I loved for over a year after discovering he was legally married with a newborn baby. He lived a double life, promising me marriage while using me for emotional validation.

I know I did the right thing by walking away, but two months out, the severe emotional toll has caught up with me again.

Is the intense confusion, shock, and doubting your own decision to walk away normal? Part of me still struggles with the emptiness and wonders if I should have just stayed in that beautiful lie.

How do you break the daily habit and routine of loving someone who turned out to be a complete illusion?

Dealing with intense heartbreak and isolation after a massive deception. Just looking to connect with fellow sisters for support and advice..

Salam sisters,

I am reaching out here because I am currently navigating a lot of quietness and isolation, and I really just need a safe, sisters-only space to talk, heal, and find comfort. I officially joined Reddit just yesterday, and right now, it is my only social outlet and the only place I have to turn to for connection.

To share a brief summary of what I am going through, I (28F) matched with a guy on Muzz over a year ago. We spent a year talking daily and I was deeply attached to him, but two months ago it all ended. I discovered he was actively on Muzz the entire time, and worst of all, he was living a completely calculated double life—he was legally married with a newborn child.

My nervous system completely collapsed from the shock, gaslighting, and trauma of the deception. It has been a heavy heartbreak to process. I officially blocked him and walked away two months ago, and it still feels somewhat difficult and triggering to process the daily grief.

I’ve been struggling with the lingering emptiness and learning how to trust reality again when the illusion he created felt so deeply authentic and convincing at the time.

I wanted to reach out to this community to ask:

Have any of you experienced a similar kind of heartbreak or betrayal, and how did you navigate the pain of those initial months?

What gentle, practical steps helped you take care of yourself and slowly learn to trust your own judgment again after being gaslit?

I really just want to engage with you all, hear your input, and feel less alone in this grief. Any words of comfort, advice, or even just a warm message would mean the absolute world to me right now. Thank you 🤍
