Pointers Writing Ice Trolls in my WoW D&D Campaign
hey ya'll! this is my first post in this subreddit and you all seem the perfect people to ask for this.
Tldr, im going to be running a dun morogh campaign with an expectantly heavy emphasis on the Frostmane Trolls, but due to the lack of detailed information on them iv been struggling to flesh them out beyond the basics.
Id love to discuss with you all about how to flesh out these guys.
For additional context, here are some changes iv made to the frostmanes to suit my storyline and help show them off.
- Dark Iron Weaponry. The dark iron dwarves have gifted the trolls with shipments of good steel weapons, allowing the trolls to attack dun morogh more brazenly then they had previously.
- Ice Claw Bear Loa. This part definitely needs to be fleshed out, Shimmer Ridge has an ice claw bear den at its base, and the frostmane often live in caves (certainly not by choice of course) so I figured ther primary loa being an ice claw bear would make sense, beyond "frost bear" I have nothing fleshed out for this Loa.
- Shimmer Ridge Neutrality. The seers of shimmer ridge are the spiritual guides of the frostmane, but they refuse to join in the fighting to take back their lands. They remain neutral not because they disagree with the war, they support the reclaiming of troll territory. They remain neutral because the dwarves of dun morogh fear their "strange curse magic" and prefer to leave them alone when possible. This positions the seers as a safe populace of trolls who can preserve frostmane history, traditions, and provide sanctuary to displaced frostmane trolls.
Grik'nir and Great Father Arktikus will also feature as potential boss fights/political leaders, so brainstorming on how to characterize them would also be awesome help.
