Haleakalā sunset with 13, 10, 6

Is Haleakalā worth doing with ages 13, 10 and 6? I don’t care about doing sunrise. I would just do the sunset. The 13-year-old gets carsick easily so I’m a little worried about that but he is so interested in doing this. We thought we might try it. How long does it take to go up enjoy it and come back down to the very bottom? Maybe 2-3 hours?

Need help choosing Costco king mattress for side sleeper w/ lower back pain + hot sleeping - budget up to $2k

My wife and I are trying to buy a king mattress and I feel like mattress shopping is either the most confusing industry in the world or the biggest scam ever.
Current bed is the Costco Novaform.
Budget is ideally under $1500, but willing to go up to around $2k if there’s a genuinely meaningful jump in comfort/support/durability.
About us:
Around 160 lbs

Mostly side sleepers, sometimes back

Lower back pain

Wake up hot/sweaty pretty often

Occasionally wake up with numb arms/shoulders

Don’t love the idea of a full memory foam “stuck in quicksand” feel

Also don’t want a rock hard mattress that destroys shoulders

Main priorities:
Lower back support

Pressure relief for side sleeping

Sleeps relatively cool

Decent durability

No gimmicky smart features needed

I’ve mostly been looking at Costco because the return policy seems way less stressful than normal mattress stores.
Current mattresses I’m considering:
Sealy Posturepedic Pro Highland Manor Medium

Kirkland Stearns & Foster Lakeridge

Tempur-Pedic Supreme Hybrid

Sealy Omak Valley Hybrid

The problem is every mattress has reviews saying:
“This cured my back pain”
and
“This ruined my spine.”
How do you actually narrow this down?
Also:
Are any of these objectively better/worse for someone with numb arms + lower back pain?

Is medium usually safer than firm for my situation?

Are Tempur-Pedics really worth almost double the price?

Is there any way to actually TRY these Costco mattresses somewhere before buying them?

Would appreciate advice from people who’ve owned these for at least 6+ months, especially side sleepers or hot sleepers.

Best “one special family night” ideas near Waikiki for a group of 13?

Heading to Oahu with a big family group (13 people total, mixed ages including kids 6-13 in age and grandparents) and trying to plan one really memorable “everyone together” evening near Waikiki.

Originally we were considering a luau, but we’re wondering if there are better options that are:

  • more fun/flexible for kids,
  • less of a huge time commitment,
  • and maybe a little less expensive for a big group.

Looking for ideas for:

  • restaurants with a fun atmosphere or live Hawaiian music
  • dinner + entertainment combos
  • sunset experiences
  • beach setups/picnics
  • shows
  • unique group activities
  • anything that felt especially memorable for your family/group

Would love recommendations specifically in or near Waikiki since we’ll mostly be walking. We will have cars and are willing to drive to something if it's really worthwhile.

Some things we’ve already looked at:

  • House Without a Key dinner + music
  • Royal Hawaiian luau - seems nice but so expensive for 13
  • Rock-A-Hula - seems really cheesy I don't think I can handle it
  • private beach picnic ideas - neat idea in theory but it was like $2k for a 13 person setup and you just got a cheese board for the one I priced out...no thanks.

But totally open to other ideas people thought were worth it (or NOT worth it).

If you were planning ONE special group night on Oahu for a family of 13, what would you do?

We are only 1 week in and he is honestly a dream dog. He’s SO fun and sweet, playful and also chill all at the same time. He just fit right in and loves all of us and is making us laugh a lot. He’s also dang cute.

I thought I would share this sentiment for anyone, who was like me, worrying a golden doodle puppy would be total chaos with an already busy family with kids. Of course every dog is different but we have had an awesome experience!

One thing we did was get a 15 week old puppy and that seemed to make things easier. We are still potty training but we have already had 3 nights in a row without having to take him out.

Good luck to all first time dog owners! I hope you have as nice of an experience.
