Rogers FastMile Nokia 5G Backup Internet

For those considering Rogers 5g backup home internet, be prepared for a lot of service interruptions (see picture). I get 4 of 5 bars of signal pretty consistently and latency is a high >100ms..

I got the service because the primary xfinity service is sometimes very flaky, and yes, I have complained to Shaw/Rogers. The last time I called they literally said your internet is fine right now, there's nothing they can do.

Pretty sure Rogers would like to see the 5g gone.

Still debating if it's worth it - leaning to not.

Why is Roger/Shaw Internet Technical Support So Awful?

I'm new to Rogers/Shaw in Calgary and have been experiencing internet drops lasting about 5 minutes at a time since signing up two weeks ago. This has happened roughly 10 times over the past two weeks.

One time, the router sat with a red LED overnight for roughly 6 hours. My system monitors internet connectivity, so I know the outages are occurring.

I'm on their coax/fibre hybrid service for the higher speeds.

I called technical support and was told their testing indicated good signal strength and, as such, there was nothing they could do.

When I asked about the outages, the rep said they would only investigate further if they happened to catch the outage at the exact same time they were testing the modem.

I suggested the intermittent issue may be due to a bad connection on their side, but I received no response. I watched the technician re-terminate all my in house connections during the install.

I'd go back to Telus, but they don't offer fibre in our area and probably never will. Plus, their DSL internet speeds are still stuck in the early 2000s.

Is this the expected experience?

I apologize for venting, but come on man...
