Lock miter question

Recently bought the fit finder lock miter bit and jig.

Setup ant testing went quicker than last Chinese bits we bought.

Question is in following pics, I think but has to come up ever so slightly to get closer fit, should that also tighten up the interior angle, or is that fence distance?

Using white oak from fil estate for a large memory chest.

Been air dried at least 20 years, edged, planed check saw alignment and angles. Test piece from scrap pine fits together like glove, cut for box and one out of 4 corners is tight

Is there difference in kiln dried vs air dried that would cause this?
