Breaking news re senior educator stood down nz for CSA

Breaking news story en route

An intermediate school principal in Masterton has just been stood down in Masterton for sexual complaints.

He was found not guilty at trial in 2009 of the same thing. I happen to know the girl (now woman) who complained then. She has had to carry accusations of being a liar her entire adult life.

Who knows if this latest incident will stick, whether a charge will be a conviction - but I hope so.

Just posting this here so reddit might find out before the news breaks in the next day or two and it is possibly suppressed following an arrest.

Story in comments.

Prominent person fly tipping in Mangawhai from Auckland

This is a bit of a rant but in Mangawhai everyone buys rubbish and recycling bags and we leave the bags outside our individual properties on Sunday night for pick up around noon on Monday no matter the public holiday etc.

We have a lot of Bach owners who come to visit on long weekends and we’ve found that many people like dropping their bags at our gate- presumably because it’s on the main road (Molesworth) and they don’t want to put them outside their own gate for whatever reason.

It’s pretty unsightly looking at every man’s rubbish at our gate on Sunday’s and we have problems with pests getting in and so other people’s rubbish becomes our problem when it starts being scattered.

Today someone left a ripped bag of festering nappies amongst other rubbish and it really annoyed me. Given that it was dropped off well past pick up it will be there for a week.

Found a score card from Te Arai links and other identifying material at the top of the bag and it had the name of a very prominent business person on it of top level Air NZ fame.

Given the nappies I assume it’s his family and not his personally. He may not have even dropped it.

However this person is a boomer and doesn’t have a social media presence and I can’t find an email anywhere for the person.

My first port of call would be to message them and ask to collect but that’s not possible.

Does Reddit have legal but righteous suggestions for how to deal with this?

Am I being petty? I thought the convention in NZ is to leave it outside your own gate, or drop it at a refuse facility and definitely not drop a late bag at some one random’s gate to fester for a week.

Advice please.

Please help me settle a debate with my partner re: real Pad Thai as found in Thailand for Thai people.

My lovely partner is a seasoned foodie and I really respect her opinion but she has never been to Thailand and we currently have beef about what a Pad Thai “should be” so I’m looking for guidance from the Thai reddit community to settle the matter. This came about because I’ve had a Pad Thai here in NZ recently that wasn’t up to scratch in my opinion. It was so mild. The Thai restaurant promised me it was going to be authentic. My partner believes Google and thinks a Pad Thai is supposed to be bland.

By “should be” I mean what it is in Thailand.

I visited Thailand for a few weeks back in 2009 when I was 18 and had the best time. Backpacking from Beijing to Singapore overland solo. Fond fond memories and the food was a big part of it.

China and Vietnam had some hot food, Cambodia dry curry had some heat, but where I truely truely fell in love with chilli was in Thailand. Baptism by fire. Before Asia I was a typical softie with chilli but after Thailand I fell in love with chilli and lash it on almost everything I eat till this very day. I owe this love and blame it on Thailand.

Most nights in Thailand I had a street Pad Thai. It was bloody hot. End of story. I remember sweating and being in pain. The Pad Thai I had in Thailand was ridiculously spicy hot in 2009.

Now my partner AND Google is telling me Pad Thai isn’t supposed to be hot. And it’s making me think I’m crazy and have made up this whole different reality and it’s really bothering me. It’s making me question my whole reality because I remember this more vividly than almost any great memory in my life.

Can someone tell me that I haven’t imagined what a Pad Thai should be. Am I completely wrong?

Can a Thai please give me the truth on this matter.

I have attached a few of photos (of only a handful) from Thailand in 2009. Some with random boy racers I met, and one in a police station with some police who helped me and actually housed me for a night after my card was skimmed and I was destitute while waiting for a replacement card.

Please help me find the model of this old Timex watch from mid 2000s.

I had this watch travel with me all through Africa and the Middle East around 2009 when I backpacked through at the tender age 18. I lost it on a big night out in New Zealand in 2011.

It was a gift and I truely loved that watch. I’ve periodically tried looking for it on google and searching timex catalogs but haven’t had any luck. If I could find the model number I will try and buy one second hand.

Unfortunately these are the only photos I have of it on me- sorry that is the highest definition I can get

Can any Timex experts help me out in trying to identify the watch?

The last two photos are the closest I can find but these are 100% NOT the model I had.

It was purchased in New Zealand around 2006/7

Thanks in advance so much.
