Marriott Check-In Took 5 Hours, What Would Be a Fair Resolution?

Our group's check-in for 8 rooms at a Marriott property in USA took nearly 5 hours (3:00 PM–7:30 PM). For the first 2½ hours, there was no clear communication, no apology, and not even a bottle of water offered until the issue was escalated to the Sales Manager.
The front desk associate was dismissive, repeatedly failed to explain whether the issue was a system or internet problem, yet continued checking in other guests while we waited. We were even told things like, "You're wasting my time."

After a five-hour check-in delay, the only compensation offered was a $12 breakfast voucher per room.

Is this worth escalating to Marriott Bonvoy, and what would be considered a reasonable remedy?

Serious food safety incident.

(Trigger warning ahead) Booked a 7 night stay at an All Inclusive in Cozumel, family vacation. Our second day in, we sit for dinner at one of the resort’s restaurants and I discover maggots/warms in my salad. We inform the servers and just walk out in shock..

One of the staff managers from the restaurant follows us, apologizes and says they are investigating the kitchen to take care of the incident. That’s all..

I am trying to process it and not let it affect the whole family’s vacation.. but at the same time can’t imagine spending 5 more nights here and eating anything after what happened.

Should I try demanding cancellation and at least a partial refund? Our flights are not refundable and no free change allowed, so probably will have to pay to change dates.

Really tried to shake it off and not allowing it to trigger me this way, but it’s not working out.

Any recommendations are welcome to help navigate this.
Thanks guys
