Zenwifi BD5 2.4 devices have no range

I have a few Wyze cameras outdoors that had a weak signal, so I purchased a ZenWiFi BD5 Outdoor mesh extender. However, the cameras still show a weak signal and do not seem to connect to the new outdoor access point.

I tried binding the cameras to the outdoor unit, but when I do, they show no connection. The cameras are about 50 feet away from the BD5 Outdoor with a clear line of sight.

I also have a Reolink camera in the same area, and it chooses to connect to the outdoor access point with a strong signal.

After some back-and-forth with ChatGPT, I was advised to change the channel bandwidth to 20 MHz and try several specific channels. I tried all of the suggested settings, but nothing changed. The Wyze cameras still connect to the indoor unit and continue to show a weak signal.

Reducing bandwidth while on backup internet

I have an asus router and its connected to my fiber ISP, but it recently went down so I setup a cellular backup. We didn't use any streaming service and I shut off a few devices that I thought might use a lot of internet, but we went through the 10gb of data I had in 24 hours.

I can disable internet access to devices in the asus router, but its a one at a time thing and not convenient at all. Several gigs were used by iphones doing their nightly backups. I also looked at setting bandwidth limits, but those are set per device require several clicks and pauses and a slow process to do.

It seems like it might be a lot easier to find a plan with unlimited data that I can pause when not needed, but thought I would ask the group is there is a self hosted tool that could switch things into low bandwidth mode with just a few clicks when needed.

Passion island water

We went to passion island in late March of this year. We rode bikes down to the pier and took a boat ride over.

It was a fun experience but the water was not what I have seen in other pictures. It had been raining that week but the water our hotel was as blue as ever. I was curious if it was just bad timing or this is how it really looks. We are retuning in August and I’m trying to decide if we want to make another trip over there.

Chicken Coop Door status

I bought a chicken coop door that is tuya compatible. I got it added int he Tuya app and all works there. The device did not show up in Alexa devices and it appears it doesn't support third party integrations like my other tuya devices.

I was able to create a tap to run automation "open chicken coop door" and "Close chicken coop door" those work in alexa and do what I want.

I would like to be able to ask is chicken coop door open or closed but can't figure out a way to do that. The status of the door is listed in tuya but I want it in alexa if that is possible. Any ideas?

Network tool to monitor IP's and keep track of docker ports

I have experimented with a few things I have found. I liked PRTG for tracking the ping responses over time and seeing when the ISP / Router is down, but I ran out of free connections and its not user friendly to add new devices. I tried librenms as it looked like a good contender, but I never could get it to scan. I tried setting it up twice and both times it never would ping anything.

I have proxmox, vm's and docker avaliable to host the tool.

Ideally it would ping my entire subnet. I would setup all the windows stuff to reply to pings and just let it ping once every few minutes and then show me a chart of uptime / downtime, new devices etc. It would be nice if it would also do port scanning and find all the open ports on my network and then allow me to name ip's or ip's with ports so I can use it as a bookmark to find things.

2026 Ford escape hood release doesn't have a under hood safety release

My mom got a brand new Ford Escape Friday and mistakenly pulled the hood release looking for the trunk release (apparently twice) then later when driving down the highway the hood flew up. It ripped the metal on the fenders, rippled the hood, and dented the roof. In a world of safety in everting is mind boggling that they have removed this.

Update: I understand there is suppose to be a light that comes on but to me this is not a light is good enough warning. It was the first day of driving and my guess didn't realize there was an issue. If you are going to remove the secondary latch then don't let them put it in drive if the hood is open.

My reason for posting was to pass this info along to people who may not know the secondary under hood latch feature is not there anymore.

▲ 0 r/cursor

I have been using cursor to create programs to do simple task and it’s saved me a lot of time. Recently I wanted to sort a big list of items. Cursor created a program and trying to make a list of possible categories but what I really wanted it to do was use AI to sort it. Is there a way or a prompt to get a cursor program to use its AI smarts to do things like this?

Please forgive any ignorance... I recently learned you can connect cursor to an ssh session and have it do all the linux commands for you. I like that but it ends up installing cursor onto the linux pc and it appears all the files and such are on linux rather than being on the pc your working on. Is there a way to get cursor to be able to do the ssh stuff without doing it on the remote pc?
