[IND] Beware: Call forwarding scam - how my dad was hacked

My dad was expecting a delivery today. He received a call from someone claiming to be from the courier service.

They said they had his package, and sent him the above SMS, asking him to dial : *21*[random phone number]# to reach the delivery guy.

He dialled it, couldn't get through to anyone, and thought nothing of it.

A few hours later, I started getting calls from his friends asking if he was okay. They had received WhatsApp messages from my dad's number, asking for urgent money.

Unfortunately, three of his friends sent money to the scammer - 60k, 50k and 50k indian rupees (approx 600,500,500 USD)😢

Apparently dialing that code enables "Call forwarding", and all calls and SMS's that are meant for your number will be redirected to that number.

That's how they could access OTP's sent to his number, and logged to his whatsapp. This is just an awareness post. NEVER dial weird looking numbers, or any number for that matter if you're asked to. Always ask them to call you. Stay safe guys!

Beware: Call forwarding scam - How my dad got hacked ⚠️🔴

This is how my dad got hacked. My dad was expecting a blue dart delivery today. He received a call from "Blue Dart" (according to Truecaller), saying that the delivery guy is trying to contact you but is unable to reach you. Please dial this number to contact him

The number they gave him was in this format : *21*[a random phone number]#.

My dad dialled this supposed number, but could not get through to anyone, and thought nothing of it, and forgot about it.

A few hours later I get calls from friends of my dad asking if dad is okay, is he in trouble. I ask them what happened, and they tell me they are getting whatsapp messages from dad's number with a qr code, asking for urgent money. Sadly THREE of his friends sent money to that QR code - 60k, 50k and 50k 😢

I run to dad's phone and check his whatsapp, he is locked out of his whatsapp. I immediately logged back in using OTP, and enabled 2 factor authentication. But I was so puzzled how the hacker got into his whatsapp.

That's when I asked my dad whether he visited any suspicious website or dialled any weird number. He said, no, i only called blue dart today. I check the number and it was this weird combination of asterisks and hashtags. A quick Google search revealed that by dialling this, you enable CALL FORWARDING. Which means every call and SMS that is supposed to come to your number, will be redirected to that number which you dialled after the *21*.

That's how they got access to OTP's, and was able to login to dad's WhatsApp.

I quickly checked how to disable call forwarding, and disabled it.

We are on the way to cyber crime now to report this. If anyone has any other suggestions regarding things we must do or check, or if we can still be compromised in any way, please let me know.

This post was also just for awareness to everyone - NEVER dial a weird number like this, in fact never dial or call any number when you are asked to. Just tell them to contact you from their side if they need to.

There is clearly a leak directly from blue dart. Either a blue dart employee is the scammer, or else blue dart's customer database has been leaked, and the hackers have access to all those expecting deliveries on certain dates, and are taking advantage of that (they knew my dad's name, and the product he was expecting). SCARY!!

Does insta push down comments that you like?

When I like a top comment in a post's comment section, the next time I open that same post, the comment I liked is no longer on top. After scrolling down a while, it's buried somewhere below among other comments. Is this happening to anyone else?

Why was Murph in cryo-sleep?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I could not find a definitive answer anywhere.

Did Murph go into cryo sleep to survive the journey to cooper station which took 2 years?

Or did she go into cryo sleep towards the end of her life, to prolong her death, in the hope that she would be alive to meet her dad, and told people to wake her up if her dad was found?

How was cooper saved in time?

After cooper transmitted the quantum data to Murph, the tesseract closed and he was chucked out of the wormhole, near Saturn.

But even though Murph solved the equation, it would still take humanity a few months at least to apply it and build the cooper station and lift off from earth right?

Plus we've seen earlier in the movie that travel time to saturn is 2 years, so how could coop's oxygen supply last 2 years till the humans reached him and rescued him?

Is this explained by the time slippage theory, that since the tesseract was inside the blackhole, time moves much slower for him, so by the time he was chucked out, many years have already passed back on earth and they've reached saturn already?

What was Professor Brand's plan?

Clearly Professor Brand didn't tell anyone on the endurance team that Plan A was a sham. He wanted them to start the embryo population bomb on whatever habitable planet they landed on.

But what was he expecting? Let's say coopers team landed on millers planet and it was habitable, they were obviously gonna come back to earth to take everyone there right? When would the message have been relayed to them that it's not possible to get people off the earth, and to start the population bomb wherever they were?

Does inverted Neil perform his door unlocking mission with a bullet in his head?

So in the forward timeline, we know Neil's dead body rises up, and is shot by a FORWARD moving bullet which embeds inside his brain, opens the door and moves backwards to the turnstile

This means that for inverted neil, while he is running from the turnstile towards the gate, he has a bullet in his head?? And after LOCKING the door (in his perspective), the bullet leaves his head and goes back into volkov's gun and neil falls dead to the floor.

How did he carry out the door mission while having a bullet in his head the entire time? xD

Was Tenet created in the past or in the future?

If we go by the popular theory that, the protagonist at the end of the movie, inverts himself and goes back to years before the beginning of the movie (say 5 years before the movie begins) and then reinverts to normal time, recruits a younger neil in the past and creates Tenet, tells neil to go save him in the Opera House, then swaps the CIA partner's pill for a fake, to ensure he stays alive and gets recruited to Tenet.

My problem with this theory is what Priya says, "Tenet wasn't created in the past, it will be created in the future".

Is this explained by the fact that for that VERSION of the protagonist priya was talking to, it would be the future, as that version hasn't yet inverted to the past to go and create Tenet?

But it's still a little shaky because to Priya, it would still be created in the past.

How do we explain this, and what are your other takes on when Tenet was created?

About the Opera siege...

I have made my theory on the parties involved in the opening scene and what their motives were. My theory is a bit different from most theorizers I have seen on reddit and youtube. Please read ahead for my theory and follow up questions, and let me know where you think I am wrong.

  1. Was the CIA buying the plutonium from the Russian general or were they selling? Most people seem to think they were buying it, but i feel they were selling, because if the well dressed man (WDM) was buying, and already had the plutonium in coat check, why couldnt he just leave? Plus, Sator in the middle of the movie says "CIA is usually buying nuclear material, not selling" which indicates it was an unusual thing that was happening at the Opera, that CIA was selling plutonium.

So now that we assume the russian general was buying the plutonium, my theory is as follows:

  1. Sator wants the 241, so he hires the terrorists to attack the Opera and safely escort russian general with the 241. This explains the Russian general being calm when the terrorists initially come in.

  2. Sator tips off the CIA about this plan. Hence CIA sends in a team to help WDM escape with the plutonium before he hands it over to the russian general.

  3. But Sator finally uses his goons to act as "local ukranians" to help CIA and WDM escape. That's the 2 fake ukranians in the van.

So, Sator plans to either:

- Get the plutonium from the Russian general if the exchange happens, and the terrorists escort russian general and 241 safely outside (OR)

- Extract the plutonium from his goons in the car if the CIA saves WDM before selling the plutonium.

However, unbeknownst to Sator, the Ukranian goverment has been tipped off about all of this.

Hence why swat team IMMEDIATELY arrived, and why russian general got uncomfortable and pulled out his gun slowly when he saw the swat team come so quickly.

Someone told ukraine that Russians are planning a terrorist attack, and buying nuclear grade weapons in the Opera House. This pisses off Ukraine.

So ukraine sends swat forces to get the plutonium from the VIP box, as well as bomb the crowd to make it look like the Russian terrorist attack was successful (i.e a false flag operation), to gain sympathy. So swat gasses the crowd so that they can't see them doing this.

Now our Protagonist arrives to the VIP box before russian terrorists can get there to escort the general, or before Ukrainian swat can get there to get the plutonium.

Protagonist rescues WDM and they swing down to the seats, where Protagonist sees ukrainian swat planting bombs (i.e the false flag), so now he doesn't trust ukrainians anymore hence doesn't want the WDM to take the exit with the "Ukrainian" locals outside in the van (who were actually Sator's men but protagonist doesn't know that yet).

So protagonist tells WDM to take the alternate Sewer exit.

My question is: How did Sator's men find the CIA team in the alternate sewer exit? We know Sator's men killed the CIA team in the sewers. (Fay says we think private Russians got your team). But who tipped them off about this? As far as i know, Sator doesn't know about this alternate exit, which is why his men torture protagonist at the tracks, to tell them which exit his team took and where the plutonium is. And protagonist took the pill before talking.

Somehow ukranians also get tipped off about the alternate exit. Hence, Ukraine govt fought Sator's men in the sewers, Sator's men escaped but ukraine got the plutonium (and later transported to tallinn).

So in summary, if my theories are correct, I need these questions answered:

  1. Why was the CIA selling plutonium to the russian general?

  2. How did Sators men know about the sewer exit? Could this be future Sator tipping them off?

  3. Who tipped off Ukraine about the terrorist attack and the sewer exit? Could this be future protagonist, knowing his team would get ambushed by Sator's men in the sewers?

Why couldn't the tenet team just dig up the algorithm after the explosion?

We know Sator had a deadman's switch, i.e coordinates of the explosion would be emailed to the future, so that they know where the algorithm is buried. My question is, why not just let Sator die, let the explosion bury the algorithm, let the email with the coordinates be sent to the future, but then secretly just dig up the algorithm after the explosion and then separate it and bury it themselves (without creating much noise that will make it into the news).

They have enough time to do it anyway, as the future will only see the email 200 years later, and by the time they go check the location, the algorithm has already been taken by team Tenet.

TLDR: Why go through all the trouble of battling Sator's men to extract the algorithm before Sator dies, when they could just let him die thinking algorithm has been buried, and then extract it.
