Whistler inequality

Genuinely interested in why people are so comfortable with the epic levels of inequality in whistler. I get that majority of locals are transient and don't really care because they have no skin in the game, but I'll never understand why Canadians aren't in the streets protesting the status quo. The rich are living high on the hog and avoiding taxes, meanwhile the average person is struggling to buy groceries. People seem more bothered about Trump than the calamity in their own backyard.

Arduino in 2026?

I'm looking to start a new project and looking at Arduino boards. However I just learned about the Qualcomm acquisition and the licensing change. I'm wondering if it's still a good idea to use these boards or is Arduino done now and everyone pivoting to esp32? I don't really like the idea of a giant corporation involved in my projects, it seems like a conflict of interest. Also the Arduino Q just seems like an esp32 + raspberry pi combo, what am I missing?

I resumed traveling about 2 years ago after having a child and have taken ~5 flights on American between SEA and DFW. All of those trips were great, until this one.

I was traveling on AA767 on April 30. While driving to the airport I got a text that the flight was delayed 30 mins due to a technical issue, at this point I thought no big deal. Got to the airport, delayed another 30 mins, still no big deal.

At the gate, boarding started, then suddenly everyone started deboarding. Gate agent said there was a maintenance issue and it would be resolved shortly. Then she closed the jet bridge door, took a call, and we got another update "a part is required".

At that point I figured this plane wasn’t going anywhere. A few minutes later everyone else seemed to sense the same and 200+ people were lining up at the counter. I called reservations and got rebooked onto an Alaska flight. Then I started getting texts that AA767 would depart in an hour. I go to Alaska but flight is delayed 3 hours.

Before leaving SEA I asked about my bags multiple times (AA desk, Alaska desk, and twice on the phone) and was told every time they would automatically transfer to the new flight. AA767 wasn’t officially cancelled until ~3pm.

I arrive at DFW and of course .... no bags.

AA tells me it’s not their issue and that Alaska has to handle it (last carrier rule). So I file with Alaska. Hear nothing for a day. Keep calling, no updates. Eventually I call AA again and explain that one of the bags has a medical device (bilevel machine) we need. I’m told both bags were found sitting in the Seattle “bag room,” retagged, and sent to Dallas expedited.

I drive to DFW, go to baggage claim but only one bag shows up. And of course it’s the one without the medical device, the exact opposite of what was communicated. Then I go to the AA baggage office, open yet another claim, and get told to check Alaska “just in case.” I drive from Terminal C to E, wait an hour, and Alaska never had the bag, said it was Americans issue to resolve and that they see a lot of these issues with American.

At this point I’ve spent ~10 hours of my trip dealing with this, calls, driving back and forth to the airport, replacing items, etc. A lot went wrong here, but the main thing is I was told repeatedly that this was being handled when it absolutely was not. I’ve had to chase everything down myself. No one seems to own it. The AA folks literally had to email/call the Seattle bag room over and over to get anything moving.

Also had conflicting info, one agent told me the flight was cancelled at noon when it wasn’t until 3pm. Reservations agents were actually solid. The people at DFW were not helpful at all, they just blamed Alaska and said it wasn’t their problem. They were wrong, Alaska never had the bags. They were with American the whole time.

I know this stuff isn’t unique to AA, but this felt like a pretty major breakdown in process. I still don't know if/when my bag will arrive. I figure i'll have to call again and beg them to call the infamous "Seattle bag room" and hope to god someone answers to retag the remaining bag to DFW.

Anyone else had this issue and have any advice on what I can do to find my bag? At this point I just feel defeated.
