Neighbors’ pool collapsed and flooded my entire living room

Something pretty unbelievable happened over the weekend

My neighbors recently set up one of those big above-ground pools. You know the kind you just need to assemble, fill up, and you’re good to go. They’ve got a really tall one, way bigger than I expected for a temporary one, so you can easily dive in it. Anyway, they had a few people over, and long story short, there was a lot of jumping, splashing, and the usual chaos

But the structure gave way. I didn’t even see it happen properly, I just heard this sudden rush and cracking noise, and then a wave of water basically tore through their yard fence line. It wasn’t just pool water either and it picked up a ton of dirt and debris along the way and just kept going

It ended up flooding part of our backyard first, and then somehow pushed into the house. Living room, dining room… both completely soaked. By the time I got in there it was basically a mess of mud, water, and broken flooring. Everything just… ruined in minutes

Now we can’t really live in a place like this. Floors are lifted, everything smells damp, and there’s no way around a full cleanup and probably replacement work

Insurance and the neighbors are going to cover the damage, so that part should be handled, but I’m still trying to figure out what the actual timeline looks like for something like this. I found Regent Restoration while looking into water damage cleanup, but I have no idea if we’re talking a few days, a couple of weeks, or something way longer.

Also kind of ironic because it took me ages to finally get the living room how I wanted it… new rug, furniture, the whole setup and now it’s basically all on hold

What’s something you wish you knew before your first stick n poke?

Been practicing on fake skin and fruits for a bit and finally thinking about doing a tiny real one on myself soon.

Not trying to do anything huge or complicated, probably just a simple little design to start.

I already know the basic safety stuff, sterile needles, proper ink, gloves, etc. But I’m curious about the stuff people only learn after actually doing one.

Anything that surprised you the first time?

Is my cat broken, or is this just "orange cat energy"?

I recently adopted a 2-year-old orange tabby named Mango, and I’m starting to think he didn’t come with the standard cat operating system. He doesn't just meow; he chirps at the wall for twenty minutes every morning at 4 AM. He also has this weird obsession with sitting in the sink while the water is running, but the second a single drop actually touches his paw, he loses his mind and sprints laps around the apartment like he’s running a marathon.

I’ve had cats before, but none that seem this dedicated to being a complete chaos agent. Is this just a personality quirk I should get used to, or is there a way to actually tire him out so he stops trying to parkour off my headboard while I’m sleeping? I’ve tried the laser pointer and feather wand, but he just stares at me like I’m the one being weird. Any advice for a first-time "orange" owner would be much appreciated!

Shopping addiction feels harmless… until you check your bank account

It starts so innocent.

“I’ll just look.”
“I don’t need anything.”
“I’m just browsing.”

And somehow 20 minutes later you’ve added things to cart, convinced yourself you “deserve it,” and hit checkout before your brain catches up.
