Hello,

I have been a waiter for a few years in connecticut. Recently my partner and I moved to New York City and I began looking for work as a server. I found a job at an Italian restaurant and just had my first day. They informed me that they do a “point based” tip out structure where waiters get 10 points and bussers get 5 points. When I asked for clarification my boss said my tip out rate was 50%. This seems extremely high, is this normal in nyc? Or at all? The most I have ever done was 25%. Just wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiences to this.
