Edinburgh

I’m in Edinburgh from Friday and fancy doing one of their parkruns. I’m staying very close to Hollyrood but the hilly start is putting me off! Is it as hard as it sounds or should I be ok? I’m not very experienced at parkruns in general - PB around 33 min or so..

Challenges..

I did a big hike on Saturday with over 800m of elevation gain, so I instantly earned Gold in the August Elevation Challenge. 🥇

The only thing that surprised me is the points system. Because I went straight to Gold, I only got the 10 Gold points. I’d expected to also receive the Bronze and Silver points, since I’d effectively passed those milestones too.

It feels a bit odd that you’re actually better off reaching each tier separately than smashing the challenge in one go. Is that really how it’s meant to work?

No Ally Love @ PSL

Anyone else a bit disappointed that Ally doesn’t seem to have any classes at PSL on 4–6 September? She was due to be over that weekend, so I’m guessing her plans must have changed.

I even paid for Wi-Fi on my flight so I could book! 😅

Oh well.

PSL Day

Had an amazing day at PSL today!

Celebrated my 500th ride with Cody and somehow managed a new 30-minute PB of 506! 🚴💪

After that, I followed it up with a much more relaxed ride with Bradley.

Both instructors were absolutely brilliant and made the day even more memorable.

Back again tomorrow for another ride with Cody! 🔥

Wasn’t this ride a 2-4-1 with Robin

I wonder if she’s delayed coming over to PSL so had to drop teaching this class?

First time

I’m planning to do my first parkrun on Saturday at Bushy Park. Any tips for a first-timer?

I’m aiming to get there early, and I’ve already got the app set up with my barcode on my phone.

I’m still relatively new to running after losing quite a lot of weight, and most of my running so far has been on a treadmill at the gym, so this will be my first proper outdoor event/run.

Would people recommend a running vest or belt for carrying water, keys and my phone? I’m thinking it’ll be more comfortable than holding a bottle or stuffing things into pockets. Anything else I should know or bring?

Will I be allowed to voluntarily check my larger hand luggage bag at baggage drop for free at LHR T5 (and Glasgow on way back)? I’d rather not have to carry and happy to collect with my main case.
