First Rottie (Mix)

adopted my boy Waylon from a local animal shelter. He was about 3 months old when we brought him home in April. He was literally found behind a trash where I live in late February—one of the coldest times of the year here. Someone discovered him and his littermates and called it in. They were starving, covered in feces, and in terrible shape. Sadly, only 4 of the 6 puppies survived.

I have a loving family home, and after hearing the story of him and his siblings, I knew I had to at least give one of them a chance. He was only available for adoption for less than 3 hours before I went and picked him up. I have never had a rescue in my life so I decided I’m strapping in for it and try to give him a good life as i’ve also never had a bigger dog before mostly just like shitzu’s and Maltese mixes.

When I adopted him, the shelter wasn’t sure what breed he was. They believed he might be some kind of hound mix, possibly a Plott Hound, because they had no information on his parents and assumed they may have been strays.

Since then, I’ve found out he’s actually a Rottweiler mix(had do an embark on him because not knowing was driving me crazy) and looking back at photos from when we first got him at 3 months old, the signs were there all along. He’s now about 6 months old and growing fast. He’s weighing in at about 40 lbs right now

I’m a pretty active guy, so keeping up with him isn’t a problem. So far he’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and surprisingly content relaxing at home. I’ve been amazed by how quickly he picks things up and how much personality he already has. Just have to keep him away from my socks and my shoes here and there and sometimes he still goes shark mode on my hands🤣🤣

For anyone who has experience with Rottweilers, I’d love to hear any advice or tips. I live in a city setting, but there are plenty of trails and outdoor areas nearby that I’m sure he’ll soon consider his kingdom!

Hello all, I recently picked up a 2023 Heritage Classic. Loving the bike, but cosmetically the studded leather parts don’t do it for me. I’m looking to change the bags into hard bags or something closer to the touring model bags. However, I can’t seem to find ANYTHING that will fit the 1-1 exhaust my bike has( as shown) all require a 2-1 exhaust so the clearance is below the rear axle.

I’m not looking to change the exhaust right now, as I just threw some Vance and Hines tips on it, and I’m not looking for any more carrying capacity per se—just want the hard bag look. Has anyone had luck finding something close to what I’m looking for?

Any help appreciated, thank you in advance.

TW: ACCIDENT

Last July, my beloved Sportster was totaled after I was hit by an 18-year-old kid, unfortunately, who was trying to take a right turn from the left lane as he was about to miss the entrance to a plaza he was going to. He just didn’t look or didn’t see me, and he turned in and smoked me. I was lucky to walk away, but unfortunately for my ride, my pride and joy was absolutely done for. It was heartbreaking—my first bike I ever had. I bought it brand new, worked on it to make it the way I wanted it, and had much more planned for it. In a moment, it was gone just like that. While I was waiting for the ambulance, I was missing a tooth, my nose was bleeding, and I was road rash to shit #meatcrayon, but after determining nothing was broken, I refused the ambulance ride to the hospital and waited for my bike to get on the tow. Part of me maybe knew it would be one of the last times I saw it.

I’ve moved on now to a Heritage Classic, but I will forever miss this thing. It was a 2021 as well, so one of the last years before the “Sportster S” took over. Lucky to be alive; however, I still don’t think I’ll ever get over losing this thing. Keep the shiny side up, everyone. Cheers—stay safe and have fun this season.

While I was waiting for the ambulance, I was missing a tooth, my nose was bleeding, and I was road rash to shit #meatcrayon, but after determining nothing was broken, the medics patched me up and I refused the ambulance ride to the hospital and waited for my bike to get on the tow. Part of me maybe knew it would be one of the last times I saw it.

All that being said, this riding season it was time to make a choice: get back in the saddle or maybe hang it up for good. As someone who is almost 30 and has been riding for 6 years already, I just thought to myself my passion for riding, the Harley enthusiast in me, wasn’t done. So I picked up this 2023 Heritage Classic, and I am having a blast so far, but I never take for granted how lucky I was last year. I am shocked it wasn’t worse. Also, going from an 883 to 114 CI is a big step, and I’m looking forward to this first season on my new ride. Keep the shiny side up, everyone. Cheers.
