Pumpkin Crumb Cake (Yossy Arefi)

Was mentioned in fall baking recommendations a couple weeks ago. Classic fall flavors. I did make the “homemade” pumpkin spice blend rather than store bought — worth it in my opinion. I also forgot to add the streusel until near the end (~15 minutes left) and it was fine— ver forgiving and the cake was moist even with a couple extra minutes baking. Recommended!

Retrofit downgrade

I was booked MUC-IAD for 7/16 in the new A380 business and got the equipment downgrade to the 2-2-2. Moved my date to 7/15, which still showed the new cabin, because I'm flexible and I really want to fly the new product and not the old. Today I got the downgrade email again. The announced schedule had the new product flying this route 6 days a week -- and they've since added a second retrofitted plane. How is it never actually flying?

It's a refundable award booking and I'd rather fly a different airline/routing than the old config, but I'm perplexed why I can't pull this off with LH.

Seat selection fee on business award ticket?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I know they rolled out (ridiculous) seat fees in business on routes outside North America. I had an award booking literally a few weeks ago out of Denver and was able to select for free. Now I’ve changed to a better itinerary out of DC and it’s $200-$300 for advance seat selection. (Around 200 for standard seat and 300 for the A350 bulkhead.). Did this just change in the last couple weeks? I see no news/blog posts about it. Or is it an error or something whew I can get a free seat selection by phone? Or just gouging is the new normal and it’s here to stay for US flights?
