After years of searching, I finally got my dream guitar! A Les Paul Custom 1983

I recently purchased this beauty from a seller on Reverb who can no longer play. I had it professionally set up by a local master luthier a few days after it arrived.
I’ve owned several Epiphones over the years prior to purchasing this guitar. I’ll be honest, I used to be one of those people who thought Gibsons were overpriced and that Epiphones were close enough in terms of sound.
But boy, was I wrong. The biggest difference isn’t even the sound, it’s the feel. The Gibson just feels alive in your hands. It’s more responsive, more comfortable, and somehow inspires you to keep playing. It genuinely makes me want to pick it up every day.
And visually? The Gibson just hits differently. The presence, the finish, the aging, the overall vibe, honestly it’s on another level. I mean, just look at the fourth picture! These guitars are 30 years apart, yet the Gibson still has that unmistakable premium look and character that’s hard to explain until you see one in person. It feels like the kind of guitar that was built to last, played for decades, and passed down through generations.
I’ll admit, it’s a heavy guitar (heavier than the Epiphone actually). But the sustain alone makes the weight worth it. It’s honestly the best I’ve ever experienced. There’s a rawness and depth to the sound that perfectly fits the kind of music I play, 60s and 70s blues rock and hard rock like Led Zeppelin and Cream.
The Epiphones are still great guitars for the money and I’m not trying to bash them at all. But after spending real time with a Gibson, I finally understand why people love them so much.
Safe to say, I get it now. This has officially become my favorite guitar and I honestly wouldn’t trade it for anything. I think I might be parting ways with the Epiphone in the picture soon lol.
