Tuning Questions, especially CarBahn + Warranty + TCU tune needed + Insurance

Looking at getting a CarBahn ECU tune (not piggyback) on my 26 m3 with 2300 miles on it, and paying the 1250 for the warranty. Had a few questions.

  1. For those who got this tune, did you feel a TCU tune was necessary too? If it is, that voids the carbahn warranty, so puts a wrinkle in my plan.

  2. Would you wait until like 5k (or more?) miles to make sure nothing goes wrong? How early would you tune? Wondering if i should wait til the next oil change to make sure it's not burning/leaking oil / nothing wrong out of the factory.

  3. Anyone have experience if this warranty is actually honored, or if it's a huge fight between BMW and Carbahn's warrantier if something happens?

  4. Anyone have experience with getting this insured? I've read if you get in an accident they can no-cover you. Right now my geico insurance is absurdly cheap (105 a month for full coverage), and worried that's going to double if I can't go through geico

New to me Laguna Green M3 Comp XDrive

Went to just scope out what the back interior looked like for spec’ing my allocation (which was gonna be skyscraper grey and orange or black interior), but wound up loving the individual color and bought this ‘26 with 1800 miles (plus it was a decent deal that came w second set of bmw black rims with winters).

Probably gonna darken the tint and eventually go stage 1.

m Ignite worth giving up a 2026 m3 deal?

I have an 2026 M3 comp x drive I’m about to buy that is my ideal spec, basically new, 1800 miles, and comes with an extra set of bmw winter tires/rims, already has PPF and tint… saves me about 8k in upgrades I was already going to do.

I am interested in the new turbos coming with the m ignite update, and already on a waitlist so most likely would get an allocation, but wondering if folks think that’s worth the basically 10k in savings I’m getting on the near-new m3. I’m leaning no, but haven’t driven this car other than a 2 minute test drive, don’t know how annoying the turbo lag actually is.

I’m always driving in manual mode, so I imagine this would only ever be noticeable from a dead stop.

Edit: specifically the VTG turbos that should minimize turbo lag I’m interested in
