It had a node!!!!!!

Holy crap!!! I thought I had checked it pretty good, but turns out I can't see crap! I bought this little zombie about this time last fall, and if course 2 weeks ago snagged a whole Kerrii at my local Ace for 30 bucks. Now I'll TWO of them! Maybe the other zombie has one ... guess we'll find out.

Oh ... I'm spinning thread today? Ok....

Didn't really expect to spin this mulberry silk this thin, but here we are. Been working on other filling other bobbins for a project but felt like switching it up today.

So I dove in to the random sample basket, pulled out the silk sample and went at it. This is easily the thinnest I've ever spun, it's like sewing thread, maybe a smigde thinner. And I shouldn't be amazed at how strong it is, being silk but god dang it's crazy strong!

I think I'll spin the same amount as a single with one of the other fibers (probably the tencel in a very similar color) in the big project and then ply and use it as my sewing thread for when it all goes together.

The time of opening is apon us!!!!

Ooooooooo....they're starting to pop open! They weren't doing much when I left for work this morning but ooooooooo ... they look like they might be fuzzy on the inside!

This little fast borb on my windowsill watched me make my coffee.

Stupid window screen, making my picture all fuzzy. He happily sat there for about 5 minutes while I got the pot going. Thought he might be thirsty for some water (feeder is right above the window) so I tried to give him a dish of water, but he flew off.

Little green dude chillin with me on the porch.

Is it a beetle? Looks a little like a shield bug of some kind, sure is cute though. Located in NW MT.

YYYEEESSSS!!!

Technically we're still a bud, but I can't believe it! Here's hoping the 10 others I've got take note and get busy!

This is the first one for this particular lady, and I scared the cats I gasped so loud when I saw it. So excited!!!

Little fuzzer on the side of the house this morning.

We're in NW MT, we're thinking a juvenile of some sort but we are having trouble figuring him out. Any ideas?

Who are these guys popping up in my field?

It's been awful rainy the last few weeks, so I'm not surprised they are there but they are so bright! NW Montana, zone 5-ish.

I'm guessing twins...probably sooner than later.

Her kid last year is a buck, he's got the tiniest little bumps. But man, she looks ready to pop.

So much splash ... but just these two.

She's always had some freckles, but these two are the splashiest leaves she's ever put out. Wonder why? Do they just decide to try something different sometimes?

Our resident Rufous.

He's such a butthead, but there's a few of the Calliope that don't budge when he's trying to give em some shit.
