Kia app crashing the phone

Do you ever have a Kia app crashing your phone, requiring a hard reset? Happens to me once every couple of weeks or so, usually when I try to control the Aircon remotely. I am on Android

Cross traffic collision warning

Yesterday I accidentally discovered that my EV5 has what can only be described as a "stick shaker equivalent" to warn about approaching traffic from the side. Very useful, although slightly unnerving for the first time when the steering wheel starts staking violently :)

Paint quality issues

New Kia owner, with my EV5 being by far the best car I ever had. Saying that, it's not without it's flaws, quality of the paintwork being one of them

First of all, the pain does not seem that robust. I have barely driven 500 miles and already have several quite noticeable stone chips on my bonnet

Secondly, after I polished the car today, I noticed that little 'dimples' in the paint, as if the primer was not applied correctly and the flaws were just painted over. This is only noticeable if the car is polished well, so not a problem, but still...

It's very hard to get those 'dimples' to show on photos, but you can just about make them on this one

Hopefully it's just mine

Not eligible products in Kia Connect Store

There are options in the Kia Connect Store that come up with 'Your vehicle is not eligible ' message when I click on them

Things like over the air map updates and Smart Parking Assist

Am I right in assuming that some options might not be eligible, because my car already has those by default? How do I confirm this?

Thank you

Releasing the charging cable

New EV5 owner here, just back from my first long-range trip. All gone well, apart from a charging session at the public CSS charging station

I stopped for a quick charge, only needed to add 10 kW or so. Once I got my charge, I stopped the charging session from the station (it had a big stop button on its touchscreen)

The charging light on the car remained green, and the cable was locked. I followed the guide, switched the car off, locked and unlocked the doors. But that did not release the charger. I tried this a few times

Then, I pulled the emergency release handle under the bonnet, but that would not release the cable either

After spending 30 mins or so, trying and retrying to pull the cable out (all, while getting drenched by a torrential downpour mind you), I decided to initiate the charge once again, but this time, let the car to terminate the session, not the charger. So, I set the charging limit to just above the current charge limit and paid for more electricity

This actually worked - charging started and finished in a minute or so. And once the car finished charging, the cable got released 👍

So, clearly I did something wrong, but what? Is there no way to release the cable if the car still thinks it's charging? And why would an emergency release not work? 🤷

Thank you

Hi lovely people :)

I have just been quoted £900 (inc. VAT) for the installation of Ohme Home Pro with 8m cable. I believe this is slightly cheaper than standard price, as I already have all the compliant cabling in place, so the job is quite straightforward

The local installer (who seems very professional) only installs Ohme chargers

What do we think, is this a good enough price? Do we have any concerns about Ohme Home Pro?

Thank you
