Eyelids don’t close fully; Kaiser refuses to medicate/expedite

I saw two different ophthalmologist and let them know that my eyes are super swollen, and most importantly, my eyes don’t close all the way.
Im nearly blind in the morning, squinting due to photosensitivity and tearing for 1-2 hours upon waking.

Two opthalmologists refused to medicate me, told me to use eye drops, while my eye condition gets worse. I was told I was at the borderline of inactive/active thyroid eye disease before they choose to medicate and the ophthalmologist felt uncomfortable giving me medication. Instead I was referred me to a occuloplastic doctor for which there is months long waitlist.

I brought a complaint up to Kaiser‘s member services and member services director did not deem this an emergency to expedite an appointment. So I am left to suffer for months before an appointment with someone who might help.

I’m suffering a lot and I’m concerned that my cornea is or my eyes can get damaged from drying out and not being closed all the way especially overnight.

Allergic to Methimazole—Propylthiouracil, Thyroid Eye Disease, negligent doctor?

I suggested lowering methimazole dose. Doc suggested second exposure to methimazole can cause a worse and dangerous reaction if it is an allergy, prescribed PTU.

I saw others post here that their doctor recommended lowering their methimazole dose or trying Tapazole instead.
I’m concerned that my doctor is switching to PTU instead of giving a lower methimazole dose another try. Can you share your similar experience or experience with PTU?

My eyes have been so irritated,—I wake up with super swollen eyes that won’t stop tearing up, and I have to squint in order to drive. My ophthalmologist at Kaiser has not responded to a message I sent in over two weeks. I’ve had one appointment with the ophthalmologist who measure how far my eye sticks out (to see if it worsens in several months from now) and told me to take selenium. Is this normal?! I have been experiencing extreme eye issues with the he discomfort, double vision occasionally, damn near blindness in the morning because my eyes are so irritated, sensitive to light, and won’t stop tearing up. I feel this doctor is neglectful, and should have prescribed medication to give me relief right away.

Diagnosed 1 month ago August 28.

Free T4: 5
T3: 388
TSH: <0.1
Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobin: 213

Started Methimazole August 29.

Allergic reactions:
~1 week in, extreme itching at night, difficulty/interrupted sleeping

~2 weeks later by September 10, barely visible bilateral rash, outer side of elbows (side I can see). Rash is so mild that it’s nearly gone the next day, but light scab where pimples were. Doctor advised stopping methimazole,
And starting Propylthiouracil after rash goes away.
