Around 10 years ago, joining almost any clan with 20+ members meant there was always someone talking. People would joke around, ask for advice, celebrate attacks, and just hang out in chat. It felt like the clan was actually alive.

Now I can join a full 50-player clan, see multiple people online, and the chat is almost entirely donation requests and war notifications. Everyone is active, but hardly anyone actually talks anymore.

Is it just nostalgia, or have clan chats genuinely become much quieter over the years?
I downloaded Clash of Clans again after 7 years, and the first thing I did was open the Social tab. There were around 30 friends on my list and about 6 saved clans. I recognized maybe 2 or 3 clan names, and a few player names seemed familiar, but that's it. I don't remember a single conversation with any of them. I don't remember what they were like, whether we were close in-game friends, what we used to talk about nothing.

Then I started joining the clans one by one. Every single one was completely dead. No active players, no chat, no wars, nothing. It's such a strange feeling knowing these clans and people were once part of my daily routine, yet now I can barely remember any of it.
I run a clan with about 30 members, but 5 of those accounts are actually mine. Nobody in the clan knows this. Each account has its own personality: one is the mature leader, one is the friendly co-leader, one is a bit childish, and so on.

The weird part is that I regularly have conversations between my own accounts in clan chat. It started because I wanted the clan to feel more active and welcoming, but over time the personalities became so distinct that other members started interacting with them as if they were real people.

Now I'm at the point where I don't think I can ever reveal it without causing absolute confusion.

My biggest fear is this: what happens if I quit the game one day? From the clan's perspective, five different people would suddenly disappear at the same time.

Has anyone else accidentally created an entire cast of characters in their own clan, or have I completely lost it? 😅
