Anyone running Sydney Marathon alone? We’ll be there cheering! 🏃‍♂️

Hey everyone! My wife and I will be coming along to spectate and cheer for the Sydney Marathon runners.
If anyone is running alone, travelling to Sydney solo, or simply wouldn’t mind some extra support, we’d love to cheer for you! 🙌

I’m an amateur Ironman triathlete myself, so I know how much a bit of encouragement can help when the legs start hurting 😅

We’re thinking of making some fun personalised signs too, so if you’d like us to cheer for you, or be of any help or support, drop a comment or DM me!

Also, any experienced spectators here, what are the best spectator spots/zones?

Looking forward to seeing you all cross that finish line! Cheers!

Seeking fitness tracker suggestion for running with GPS & Heart Rate tracking accuracy under 5K/10K.

Hello Runners,
I don’t care about calling, notifications, or flashy UI—I just need reliable standalone GPS and accurate Heart Rate tracking for training.
BTW using iPhone 14, hence iOS compatibility is necessary.

My current shortlist:
Under ₹5K: Redmi Watch 5 Lite (built-in GPS)
Under ₹10K: Amazfit Active 2 / Bip 6 (on sale)

Two quick questions:

1. Between these, which one holds a cleaner GPS lock and doesn't drop heart rate spikes during intervals?
2. What tracker do you personally train with, and how reliable are its GPS & HR data in real-world runs?

Looking for unfiltered feedback. Thanks!

Running shoes

I'm looking to buy a running shoe with a budget of not more than ₹2500, I'm currently looking at a second-hand Nike Zoom X Vaporfly Next% 2 at my price point but it seems too good to be true, maybe it's a 1st Copy. Should get it or any other shoe recommendations.

I'm also curious if 1stCopy shoes such as the AdiZero's are actually worth the money at ₹2700, are they actually light weight and have a good foam? Please share your experiences.

I built a stupid app that converts your runs into beer mileage - What do you think of this hilarious idea?

It’s called Beer Mileage — basically, your activity fills up a virtual beer mug throughout the day. 🍺

The idea is to eventually have the mug sitting on your phone’s home screen as a widget, so you can glance at it after a run/activity and see your “beer mileage”.

I’m curious whether this is actually something Bangalore runners would use, or whether it’s just a terrible idea that I find funny 😂

Would you keep something like this on your phone? What would you want it to do?

Link if anyone wants to try it: Beer Mileage

Added context: I took the day off for my birthday and wanted to do something fun for a change, currently on prep for my 2nd FM, also did a 50k ultra!

Signed up for my 1st 5k not to compete just to finish strong and run the entire 5k. Should I go all out or stick to my easy run pace. Please suggest

For context I started running in Feb26 this year, did the C25k plan and then just running about 5-7kms 2-3 times a week. In the start I did not pay much attention to heart rate and was reaching 180-190 ranges without much discomfort and with run/walk was doing 5k below 40 mins. Now when I have started to ensure I maintain heart rate around 145 - 160 and go slower without walk breaks I am completing 5k in 48 mins. I have been training using runna for last 5 weeks and did the easy runs, long runs, tempo etc. Now for the 5k event should I go all out and increase pace doing a negative split and try to go below 40 mins with hr around 175 or just run easy like I have been doing and just complete the race.

Next thing to do after marathon

I recently did Full Marathon, i still have 42k race in november, but what should be the goal after that.

i really don’t want to do ultras, it’s just giving body extra stress, i’ll stick to maybe doing 21k and one marathon per year, what’s your opinion

Tuffman Delhi 2026 21k

Hi everyone!

I’m running my first 21K this weekend, and honestly, I’m getting a bit nervous. 😅

My longest run so far has been 15K at around 7:38/km, but by the end I felt like I had very little left in the tank. My legs were extremely stiff and heavy, and I’m not sure I could have comfortably continued much further.

For those who have run their first half marathon, what would you recommend?

Should I start significantly slower than my usual long-run pace?

How should I pace the first 10–15K?

When should I take water/electrolytes or fuel?

Any tips for dealing with heavy/stiff legs during the race?

Is it better to take short walk breaks if needed, or try to keep running continuously?

I’m not aiming for a specific time — finishing the 21K comfortably is the main goal.

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation before their first half marathon!

Heel/feet pain while running slower

I'm 27M and have been running since past 7 months. I finished by 10k in 70 minutes (my best) and got a running watch as well since I got into the habit and can track my heart rate
My runs used to feel easier but when I see my heart rate it easily crosses zone 2 (I did the karvonen method to get my accurate zones and not by 220-age)
So to keep keep myself in the lower heart rate (under 163), I am tending to run slower which is causing heel and feet pain especially I can feel the load near the Achilles tendon

Last 2 runs I decided to just go by feel and not look at the zones, then my average HR after a 6k and 7k run is around 169 (upper end of zone 3). There was no leg pain but In between these runs I had to just stop and walk just to get my heart rate down a little.

I don't know how to move further in my plan as I am feeling lost and wanted to seek some advice from the community. I am trying to do my first HM maybe early next year. I know I can do that but I just want to do it injury free as well as not overtrain myself by always running in zone 3 and zone 4.

I was asked ₹10k donation to get a charity bib for TSW25K while the women's category is still open. Such running events are now mostly for the rich.

I wonder if they are delusional or the hype is so much that people are willing to give that much money as donation to get a bib.

I googled and it shows that the monthly median salary of India is around ₹30k. What are they even thinking asking these ridiculous amounts?

I'm never running a ProScam event again.

what are you actually eating before and after runs? indian food edition

i feel like every fueling guide i read is built around western breakfasts oats, bananas, energy gels, peanut butter toast. which is fine, but i want to know what people here actually eat, especially the desi stuff.

trying to sort out my own routine.

I'm afraid I'll never be able to run as before

I was preparing for a full marathon last year, and gave an attempt at the Tata Mumbai Marathon in Jan. I however got injured during the race due to an IT-band issue, and wasn't able to complete it.

It was pretty intense, so gave a few months of complete rest, followed by strength training for another couple of months.

I started to run once or twice a week, just 2-3 km to get into the groove.

I still feel pain, and I'm scared I'll never be able to enjoy running like before :)

What fitness tracker you recommend under 10K?

I have recently picked up running and want to explore other fitness activities such as swimming and gym too on a regular basis. At this point of time, I wanted a budget fitness tracker that is also not too bad as I have been avidly checking reviews from quantified scientist and here (The market seems to be full of erroneous devices). I don't like wearing bulky stuff on my wrist and was considering a band with a small or no screen.

I would also like if its app connects with strava.

I have shortlisted a few but am unsure which one to choose-

  1. Helio strap- obviously it's out of stock, don't mind waiting for a month if it's really worth it.

  2. Fit bit Air- Probably have to wait till October

  3. Huawei 11 pro- good contender but when I went to buy it on amazon, the price suddenly increased, I am a bit sus (also has gps)

  4. Pebble qore view- really like the design with a very small timer screen but seems unreliable

  5. Mi 10- seems okay but also old generation

  6. Samsung galaxy fit 3- again the senors don't seem fully reliable.

Is it a good idea to wait for the Big billion day sale or October to get my hands on one of the good trackers? Or, should I get one immediately to start monitoring asap?

What's your take?

Running Shoes for VDHM 10KM

I’ve currently narrowed it down to the Adidas Adizero Evo SL and ASICS Novablast 5, but I’m open to other recommendations around ₹10K.

A little context about me:
• I’m primarily into CrossFit and don’t run regularly.
• I walk around 5 to 10 km almost every day.
• Running even 5 km continuously is challenging for me right now.
• My current pace for a 3 to 5 km run is roughly 6:30 min/km.
• I’ve registered for the VDHM 10K on 18th October, so I’ll be training more regularly over the next two months.
• Budget is around ₹10K or below.
I’m currently able to get the Evo SL for around ₹10K, which is why it’s high on my list.

For someone with my usage and running level, would you pick the Evo SL, Novablast 5, or something completely different?

Looking for something comfortable for training that I can eventually use for the 10K as well. Would love recommendations from people who’ve actually used these shoes.

Ran my first official 5k today 😭😭

So I've been lurking on this sub since I started running a month ago and used to see a lot of posts like these... Finally today I ran my first 5k in City slam and it felt so good, completed 5k in 48:20, aiming for a 10k soon.

Can I get a injury by running a HM so severe that I won't be able to walk too ?

Howdyy Runners ! 🏃

I ran my first HM 2 weeks back...and I did it on very minimal practice and base.

Due to college final year I only did one long run, one 10k and one 5k two weeks prior to my HM.

Finished the HM in 2:40.

Now....2 weeks after the run, I have developed this mild-ish pain in my knee which is only there if I bend my knee, like during standing from sitting. It disappears when I run. Also it is not present while I walk or at rest.

I have my next HM this coming Sunday and again I will be going with very little practice.

I can go for the run, right ? I am assuming it is nothing serious .

Also , can I ever get an injury only by running till HM distances so severe that I won't be able to walk even ?

This really matters to me because my college is gruelsome and I really can't afford such an injury at any cost.

I will be very thankful.

Am I doing something wrong or just need to give it more time? Not seeing progress in pace at all since I started

24 m. Started running early july so it's been 45 days or so. In all this while I've run around 60 kms. I run around 4-5 days a week. Most days i am too tired and/or short on time after work, so most days i run only 2 km. On weekends try to do anywhere from 3-5 km.

Pace has been at 8-11 minutes per km ever since I started. Once I ran a 6:30 min per km for 2km.

I do run-walk combos most days.

Doing knee strengthening exercises a minimum of once every week because right knee is a bit fragile from a past injury.

Am i doing anything wrong or just need to give it more time before I see an improvement in pace?

I don't have running shoes so I run in basketball shoes, if that matters.
