How many international auxiliary languages (IALs) have been documented throughout history?

Hello everyone,
While looking into the history of international auxiliary languages, I started wondering about the total volume of IAL proposals over time.
From early projects and historical attempts (like Volapük or Esperanto) to modern zonal and global projects:
Is there an accepted historical estimate for how many IALs/auxlangs have been created or published so far?

Which archives or databases best document the history and full list of constructed auxiliary languages?

Thanks in advance for sharing any historical insights or resources!

What needs to happen for an auxlang to actually succeed in the real world?

Hi everyone!
I’d love to get your opinion on a big question: What conditions must be met for an auxiliary language to actually become successful in the real world?
Many auxlangs have great grammar and clever designs, but very few gain real-world traction. In your view, what is the single most important factor?
Is it simplicity and ease of learning?

Is it political neutrality?

Is it having a strong community, culture, or media (books, music, videos)?

Or is it purely about economic and political power?

What do you think an auxlang really needs to thrive? I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts!

The idea of munsoso

In the past, I was confronted with many languages. I learned Luxembourgish, German, and French in school—which was not easy for me, because languages are not logical! 😆😉 Later, I learned English, and I also took six months of Japanese, followed by some Spanish and Italian. During my career, I worked in Finland and Hungary. I can tell you, those last two were something else... Already back then, I had the idea to invent something that works for everyone. That was the spark that led to Munsoso.

Introducing Munsoso (munsoso.lu) – A minimalist, 300-word international auxiliary language with zero exceptions, flexible word order, and real music examples

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a project I’ve been developing over the last 6–7 months: **Munsoso**, a global auxiliary language designed for rapid acquisition. The core philosophy is simple: "The main thing is that people understand me."

It’s built to serve as a phonetically and grammatically neutral bridge for speakers worldwide, eliminating typical structural hurdles.

### 🌟 Core Features of Munsoso:

* **Global Alphabet (20 Letters):** To ensure universal pronounceability, it completely eliminates letters that cause difficulty for many speakers worldwide: no C, J, Q, V, X, or Z (e.g., accept -> aksepti, year -> yaro, to see -> widi).
* **Rigid Grammatical Endings:** Word classes are instantly recognizable by their final vowel:
* -o = Nouns
* -i = Verbs
* -a = Adjectives
* -e = Adverbs
* **Zero Exceptions:** Rules are absolute. No irregular patterns, no hidden letter traps.
* **Total Word Order Freedom:** Whether your native tongue is SVO, SOV, or VSO – Munsoso accepts all structures as long as the meaning remains clear.
* **The 300-Word Threshold:** Instead of thousands of roots, Munsoso relies on a highly minimalist vocabulary of 300–400 essential words for everyday communication.

### 📖 Grammar & Sentence Examples:

**Pronouns & Tenses:**
* Mi (I), Yu (You), Lu (He/She/It)
* Miplu (We), Yuplu (You pl.), Luplu (They)
* Verbs use simple tense particles placed before the root: fu (future), sta (present continuous), and pa (past).
* Mi lerni = I learn
* Mi fu lerni = I will learn
* Mi sta lerni = I am learning right now
* Mi pa lerni = I learned

**Sentences:**
* Mi niami pano. (I eat bread.)
* Mi amili yu. (I love you.)

### 🎵 Hear it in Action (Music & Media):

To see how the phonetics and the 20-letter alphabet actually flow in practice, I have already written and produced several songs entirely in Munsoso.

You can find the audio tracks and videos directly on my social media channels:
* YouTube: https://youtube.com
* TikTok: https://tiktok.com

The full grammar overview, modular building rules, and the complete dictionary are available in the Munsoso Handbook on the official website: https://munsoso.lu

I would highly appreciate your professional linguistic feedback, thoughts on the phonetic choices, and your critique on how a language with total word order freedom functions without a complex case system!

Thanks for your feedback!
