Advice and tips on starting a rescue

Hi everyone,

My husband and I love gulls - along with all creatures, but gulls have a special place in our hearts. We are very serious about saving enough money to move somewhere with land to house disabled gulls longterm and rehab injured ones.

This is not something happening imminently but that we want to plan towards in our future. I wondered if anyone who has experience of this would be able to provide any tips, advice, pointers etc on how they got started and how it’s going.

Thanks gull lovers, praise be to our beautiful birds!

Flying ant day

Hello Cornish community,

I just wanted to put a message out there to raise awareness and ask people to please drive safely tonight and over the coming days being conscious of the amount of gulls currently gorging themselves on the flying ants that are abound this evening. They gorge themselves until they’re almost drunk on the ants’ formic acid and don’t have as good road awareness as usual.

Most of these gulls will have babies who will starve if their parents don’t make it back, having already been hit hard by the heatwave that has decimated successful chick numbers this year, so please look out for them!

I know a lot of people find them annoying but they are part of our wildlife trying to survive with overfished seas and their natural habitats being replaced with buildings. They are officially a red list endangered species, with intentional harm coming with a fine.

Please be kind and have awareness for these sentient, ancient creatures. ✨

Selling your own creations as a maker

Hi everyone,

How does anyone here get on with selling their own creations on Vinted?

I make headbands, fascinators, headdresses and other bits and bobs all out of secondhand fabrics, vintage beads and flowers etc. I see quite a few listings for things like this and always wonder if it’s worth doing the same, as Etsy fees really put me off. But are people actually buying this stuff - especially at the price it’s worth as a handmade item?

Would love to know anyone’s experience!

This is a collection of vapes of mine and my husband’s from the last two years, it’s a full bag for life! We are finally making the move and stopping this nasty habit!

Originally we started to help us stop smoking weed every day, which I’ll always be grateful to them for as we are now 10 months clean of that, but my god is vaping hard to stop! We are now both on the champix and today I put all of the vapes I had been saving (I didn’t want to just throw them in a bin) in the recycling bin at my work. I work at a university and we have a robotics lab so the batteries will be reused for projects, which is great!

Anyway, here’s to the end of the vaping journey!
