Turntable platter started grinding on one side of chassis yesterday. I’ve removed it from the center spindle, cleaned and oiled everything, but it’s still doing it. The platter looks level when spinning, no wobble in the spindle or anything. Any help appreciated.
Edit, solved: the spindle had pushed through and broken the plastic support cup that it sits in underneath. Upon dismantling I found the broken piece rattling around inside and epoxied it back together. All works fine now, thanks for the responses.
Hi all, hope this is the right place to ask this. I’ve inherited a pair of these Fisher speakers, one of which is blown (I think? It rattles and vibrates). There doesn’t seem to be a way to remove the front fabric, or get in the back without prying off the particle board, which will probably cause more damage. Before I get too deep into doing anything with these, I want to be realistic in what I’m getting myself into. Are these “worth” the trouble trying to repair? I’m trying to balance sentimental value, and actual value of what these are.
Any advice, help, or info is greatly appreciated, thanks so much.
