So many 3rd party hue apps have ridiculous subscriptions or paid "upgrades" that often times give you features you could get for free in the official hue app or in a free app, such as hue music sync, which is often times paid but is offered for free in some others(I won't give examples because advertising rule). I would really like to hear an actual reason for why this is true for most of these apps.

I want to go get a hue flux lightstrip, but my budget is limited right now. I want to buy a shorter version and extend it later, but I noticed the lumen ratings are different. Will this be an issue and shall I get uneven brightness?

I already have some hue essential and non-essential bulbs and was wondering if I could mix and match Ikea bulbs.

I'm thinking of getting a hue light strip in my bedroom for gaming and also just lighting.

I saw on the hue website that there are multiple types of light strips. The wall I want to put the on is about ~3.27m.
