I have a planted aquarium that has only been cycling for a short time, and this week I’m having an algae outbreak and I’m not sure what to do about it. Even though the tank is under a window, I keep it closed during the week and only use the aquarium light for the plants. It stays on for about 8 hours a day, could that be too much?

How can I reduce their growth? I’m thinking about getting shrimp or snails. Do you think that’s a good idea for a beginner?

Also, the plant in the third picture doesn’t look very healthy, right?

I currently have these plant species, along with driftwood and rocks:

- Hygrophila Corymbosa

- Vallisneria

- Ludwigia Palustris

- Lysimachia Nummularia

Just a little rant... few things annoy me more in Pikmin Bloom than these challenges where we have to plant flowers that barely give us any nectar. It’s obviously made to increase the company’s profit, since the easiest way to complete the challenge is by buying extra flowers, but seriously, I’ve never managed to finish a challenge because of those damn flowers

Nintendo should make nectar more accessible during these events, or at least lower the amount of flowers we need to plant so the gameplay feels more dynamic and enjoyable. But maybe that’s just my unrealistic dream talking

Yesterday Mike passed away, and before him I would never have imagined that the absence of a fish in my day would weigh so heavily on my heart. It was very sad to wake up and not see him dancing in the aquarium waiting for his breakfast, and now I’ve come home after a long day and I can’t see him resting so peacefully like only a long-tailed betta knows how to do. I love him and I hope he knows I did my best to give him a good life. I hope he is at peace.

Enfim, hoje finalmente montei meu aquário plantado para o Mike, mas estou um pouco preocupada quanto a transferência dele para esse novo aquário. Como eu já havia compartilhado antes (e deixei novamente a foto do aquário dele em anexo), ele vive num aquário bem pequeno e sem nenhum planta natural dentro, além de que, por ser um ambiente pequeno e ter ele a pouco tempo, eu não cheguei a usar mídias biológicas nesse aquário antigo, só que atualmente ele está com podridão nas nadadeiras (ainda é inicial) e eu me preocupo que ficando no habitat atual dele, a condição piore

Acontece que pouco depois de finalizar o novo aquário, já medi os parâmetros da água, então sei que tem 0 ppm de nitrito/nitrato, o pH está em torno de 7,2 mas a amônia estava em 0,50 ppm, o que eu acho que é muito. Não sei como lidar com isso, porque o esse aquário pequeno definitivamente não é o ideal, e também não sei se medi os parâmetros cedo depois, ou se seria mais prejudicial colocar ele nesse novo tanque logo de cara, já que eu basicamente não usei nada do aquário pequeno pra me aproveitar das bactérias benéficas

Como devo agir nesse caso? O que vocês fariam?
