Oil Change Light

2012 Ford Fiesta, I have been trying to reset my oil change light but it won’t stay off. I do everything I am supposed to, fully depress the gas and break pedal for 30 seconds but I never get the reset message.
Can anyone think of something I am missing?

This is probably going to start out as a rant but I will get to the point I promise

(History for the plot): I have been with my person for over two years and the I have always worked in veterinary medicine.
He is really the only person I have to talk to outside of my coworkers about work.
(Yesterday/The plot): I was in a car accident yesterday after I left work early and I had made a bad joke saying “this is what I get for leaving work early” he went on to tell me that I needed to stop playing victim. I proceed to ask him “if he was trying to piss me off or he just didn’t know what he was saying” and basically said “I will talk to you later”
Fast forward to this morning where he proceeds to apologize for “sounding mean”. I expressed it kind of sucks that is the first thing he thinks of me, and he goes on to explain why he thinks that way, because I am always complaining about work, whether it’s us being short staffed, clients, the typical things we deal with in our job. I am sitting here thinking to myself should I just stop coming to him when I need to vent about my job? He seems to feel a type of way, if he thinks I am just complaining all the time.
Rant over
