I know it doesn't really have much bearing on anything important but like, why did fromsoft choose to have almost every rise be named after someone directly, usually whose only mention in the entire game is that name? Are they all just sorcerers/astrologers, highly respected but not important enough to have a conspectus or any mentions in item descriptions? Is there any significance to where the rises are located or to the names of thsoe who owned them?

I don't know if anyone has made this connection before. Knowing this community, it's very likely. But I find it interesting how similar the story of the jellyfish spirit summon, Aurelia, and parts of the story of Rennala and Rellana are. First, the place where you reunite Aurelia with her sister is the Stargazer Ruins, where it's pretty much guaranteed that astrologers, the predecessors of modern day sorcerors, lived. It's also an obvious connection to the Stargazer Heirloom, whose item description refers to a young Rennala as 'an astrologer who gazed at the night sky.' There is also the direct parallel of their stories. Two sisters who love to see the stars, one who leaves and one who stays.

I really love how these stories call to each other, and how this base game detail foreshadows a dlc character without a whole lot of lore about her, with Rennala staying in the Lands Between and Rellana going off to the Lands Of Shadow. Maybe Rennala has also been waiting for her sister to return. I love how this characterises her; really when you look at a lot of the information about her, Rennala seems like an incredible woman and honestly her boss fight has done a lot of damage to her reputation in the community. From this to her deep love for Radagon and her children, even to the academy and Caria's treatment of less respected races like demi-humans, albinaurics and trolls, she seems to be a really benevolent queen with a lot of love in her heart. It's a shame she was done so dirty by Marika and then the academy.
