New to the Club, seeking wisdom from those who may be in similar situation

Hi everyone!

36M here, and newly inducted to the Heart Failure club. Started feeling fairly winded during gym exercise and figured I needed to go see my PCP. In in office EKG indicated I was having PVCs (while, as I understand now, my Apple Watch has Beene telling me as my HR would "fall" to below 40 BPM, but it was the watch not really reading my HR correctly due to the PCVs). Anyway, Holter Monitor showed a 31% burden.

Next step Cardiologist. Had an Echo done. 25% EF, mildly dilated LV, mild wall thickness consistent with mild concentric hypertrophy, global hypokinesis of the LV.

Had an MRI, which apparelnty the machine doesn't like due to the PVCs. 26% EF. Systolic and Diastolic volumes were quite high compared to normal rages (I read this may be potentially normal for tall man like myself). No remarkable wall thickness contradictory to Echo. The contrast was delayed at the mid and basal LV segments, so perhaps I have a combo of the PVCs and prior myopathy causing the HF.

Waiting for my CT scan.

Currently on Coreg 3.125mg2x/day, waiting to start Entresto due to Insurance issues.

Have an ablation scheduled for the PCVs to hopefully help the heart out more.

Hopeful that, since my symptoms today don't generally impact my day to day, the HF diagnosis will end up being on the back of my mind instead of forefront of my mind.

I welcome everyone's thoughts, wisdom, opinions, etc.

Immediate Cat Rehoming Agencies

Hi everyone. Unfortunately my grandmother passed and she has cats that I, and the rest of my family, can't care for due to severe allergies or inadequate homing arrangements.

She lived on the edge of New Castle and Delaware Counties, technically in DE. I'm not familiar animal agencies here or in New Castle, so I'm seeking recommendations for groups that will accept cats without delay and/or will also come get them. Preferably a no-kill shelter of the sorts.

Bit of a whirlwind right now, so I'm all ears for recommendations. Thanks.

Lansdowne Ave Closure - Busing on D1/D2 and 115 Bus Detours Due to Lansdowne Avenue Grade Crossing Renewal, Aug. 7-10

Crews will perform full-depth renewal of the Lansdowne Avenue grade crossing. This involves removing the existing crossing surface and worn-out rails. Afterward, the grade crossing is reconstructed with a new asphalt surface and replacement rails.

Impact on Area Traffic

Lansdowne Avenue will be closed to all vehicle through traffic between Garrett Road and Winding Way continuously from Friday, August 7 at 9 am, through Monday, August 10 at 6 pm.

Motorists will be directed to use Garrett Road, Fairfield Avenue, Constitution Avenue, Brief Avenue, Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and State Road. A pedestrian detour will also be in place to allow for safe travel around the construction zone.

Access to local businesses and private property will be maintained at all times. Residents should be mindful of buses operating on residential streets, observe posted signage, and use caution when crossing at intersections.

Project Details

  • The current crossing surface, ties and rails will be removed.
  • A new crossing will be constructed and new ties and rails installed.
  • The grade crossing and the approaches will be milled and paved before reopening the road to service.
  • The new grade crossing will provide a smoother ride across the tracks and a surface free of cracks and potholes.

Sustainability initiative makes ‘litter kits’ available to check out at Delco libraries

I know some will say local and county government should be responsible for litter pickup, but I do see this as a great initiative to help tidy up our roads, trails, and sidewalks.

Award Winning Series to Begin Production in Upper Darby Township

Looks like a few streets in Drexel Hill will have its streets blocked for parking on select days over the next couple weeks.

Anyone know what this “Award Winning Series” is? Maybe Task?

New Regional Rail Schedules, July 5 – SEPTA

Nothing too significant for Delco commuters, but the express trains are less express now, with Lansdowne, Gladstone, and Clifton being added as stops and their times revised.

This underfunded Delco school district is outperforming peers, a new study finds

Everyone know WPSD has had it’s issues for a long time, so nice to see a glimmer of positivity for the district.

Where to dispose of yard waste

Lansdowne (and maybe other boroughs) is not picking up yard waste for 2 weeks due to primary day and Memorial Day shifting trash and recycling days around.

Where can I send my yard trimmings and waste to, paid or not, in the mean time?

Curious why you were charged what you were with contactless payment?

Seems there a frequent complaint on here is that people don't know why SEPTA's fare system charged what it did to their card.

I found out today that if you use Contactless payment, you can look up a receipt for your trip and see where you tapped in (or out) at and understand how the system saw your payment. Might not give people all the answers they seek, but could be insightful.
