[SUMMERTIME SUGGESTION] Free Museums!

Well, It's summer again. What are the kids going to do?

🎟️ Did you know your library card gets you into 40+ museums for free?

If you have an Delaware County library card, you can borrow passes to museums, zoos, and gardens — totally free through the Delaware County Libraries MuseumKey program.

We're talking places like the Philadelphia Zoo, art museums, science centers, gardens, and more. There are 40+ venues in the system.

How it works:

  • Reserve a pass at museumkey.com (browse by museum, date, or your library branch)
  • Some passes are Print & Go — reserve online, print at home, walk in
  • Others are physical passes you check out at the library and return after your visit

The Sellers Memorial branch (76 S. State Rd) and Municipal branch (501 Bywood Ave) both participate.

→ Reserve a pass: delcolibraries.org/museum-passes

Great for families, great for a weekend outing, and free. Pass it on. 🙌

The Drexeline-Adjacent Land Grab Is on the Table Monday Night in Upper Darby

A rezoning amendment would let Rockwell skip the variance fight & put the weight on residents instead. The developer also just settled a federal housing discrimination & sexual harassment case.

Transportation Resources in Upper Darby

🚌 Getting around Upper Darby without a car — everything you need to know

Upper Darby is actually one of the best-connected places in the Philly suburbs for car-free living. Here's a breakdown of what's available:

69th Street Transit Center (6901 Market St) is your hub — one of SEPTA's busiest transfer points with ~35,000 riders on a typical weekday. From here you can reach:

  • 🟡 SEPTA L1 (Market-Frankford Line) → Center City and beyond
  • 🔵 SEPTA M1 (Norristown High Speed Line) → Haverford, Radnor, Norristown
  • 🟢 D1 trolley → Media | D2 trolley → Sharon Hill
  • 18+ bus routes covering Upper Darby and surrounding areas

(Note: SEPTA rebranded its lines in 2025 — the old "El," Routes 101/102, and CCT Connect have new names but same routes.)

🆓 Free rides if you're 65+

The SEPTA Key Senior Fare Card gives free rides on all buses, trolleys, subway, and El. Apply at SEPTA HQ or call 610-892-9440 ext. 3 (Delaware County processing). Funded by the PA Lottery.

♿ Need a ride to a medical appointment?

MATP (Medical Assistance Transportation Program) — free rides to medical appointments for Medicaid recipients. Covers doctor visits, dental, mental health, pharmacy runs, and more. 📞 610-490-3960 | ctdelco.org

SEPTA Access / Community Transit (DELGO) — paratransit for seniors and people with disabilities. Seniors pay only 15% of the fare (PA Lottery covers the rest). 📞 610-490-3960

Not sure which bus to take? SEPTA's trip planner at septa.org is solid, or drop your start/end point in the comments and someone here will help you figure it out.

More posts coming on housing, health care, and other local resources. 👋

What are You Paying for Internet?

Every time I get a bill, RCN (Astound) turns the knife. I know I can keep hopping around providers and get their "introductory" deal, but I'd rather not play that game every year.

Do you have a provider that handles streaming services and your other home internet needs and has a fixed rate?

I am tempted once a year to start pushing for community broadband in Upper Darby. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Could you imagine paying <$40 flat-rate every month for Gb service? Never worrying about a bump when the introductory period is over?
