Light Roast on the Series 1

Is anybody familiar or found a way around light roast on the series 1? I would like to pull a pre infusion for about 15 seconds and let it bloom with no pressure and no flow for another 15 seconds and than start infusion at 9 bar for 30 seconds with a dose of 18g in and 45g out.

Is there any other ways that yall currently run your light roast profiles? Do lemme know!

First machine I've owned. Fellow Espresso Series 1 AMA!

Full disclosure right off the bat, this is the first espresso machine I have actually owned. That said, it's not the first time I've used one, so I have a decent baseline for what a good workflow and shot should taste like.

I managed to snag it on preorder, and I've spent the last few days heavily putting it through its paces. Since it's a massive investment and a huge leap for Fellow into the prosumer machine space. Especially for those of us running the 220V–240V international version outside the US market. I wanted to open up the floor to anyone curious about real world impressions.

My quick thoughts so far from a first-time owner's perspective:

The Good: The 2-minute heat-up time is incredibly convenient / The auto-stop steam wand with the temp probe works perfectly / The preloaded roast profiles made it simple to get a great shot right away.

The OK: Getting used to the dial UI for custom profiles / the volumetric consistency when changing grind sizes.

The Bad: Honestly not too bad, but the machine uses a lot of water. For 5 shots of 36g output and some steaming it goes through 1 litre of water.

If you're on the fence, curious about the international version's power/performance, the pressure profiling, or how user-friendly it actually is for a first-time owner, ask away! I'll be hanging around to answer questions.

Is a precision basket actually worth it, or is it just diminishing returns? [no budget]

I’m currently shooting on a stock basket and considering upgrading to a precision basket like an IMS or VST.

I understand the basic pitch, more consistent hole geometry, better water flow, and higher extraction. But in the real world, is the difference actually noticeable in the cup, or is it mostly just gear hype?

For those who made the switch:

  1. Did it actually improve the flavour profile/clarity of your shots, or did it just change your workflow?
  2. Did you find it made your puck prep way less forgiving or more forgiving?
  3. Did you regret it?

For context, I mostly drink light to medium roasts. Appreciate any honest takes before I drop the cash.

help! new with lemon tree

Hi all, I’m getting really worried about my lemon tree and could use some expert eyes. got this tree as a house warming gift from my sister and it came with lemons already on the tree. Over the last 2 months, it has started dropping a lot of leaves. I even changed out the soil for really good flowing ones. In the last few days it even started flowering.

Here are some things I am currently doing:

  • Location: indoor with 27 degree celsius, west facing sun. humidity around 65 to 75%.
  • Watering: I water it when it gets dry on the top 2 inches.
  • Light: Gets about 12 hours of indirect sunlight with a 50W grow light with 15 hours a day.
  • Soil/Pot: It’s in a terracotta pot with drainage well draining husk and stone mix.

I really don't want to lose this guy. Any advice on what to tweak? Thanks in advance!
