I got a 3hr route today…

4:45am-7:45am. And it scared the shit out of me when I saw 1 package on the cart. Thought I might be crossing state-lines with that duration. Maybe it was a mistake.

It sent me 5 minutes away from where I live. Literally 3mi from my house. $87 3hr block. Went home about 20mins after check-in since it was 12mins from the station. Idk im not asking questions.

Reserved Offers be ballin

Idk if it’s due to high-demand or driver shortage (which wouldn’t make sense but maybe) but my recent reserved offers have been crazy.

Store is closed. What am I supposed to do?

So I picked up two separate Whole Foods routes before learning my lesson but basically the store that does Flex deliveries around here closes at 9pm every night of the week. The first one was a 9:30-10:30pm in which I showed up and the only person there was a janitor who, even after showing him my phone and wearing a vest, waved me off and wouldn’t open the door. The second time it was a 10-11pm and I showed up but this time the store was completely dark, no one inside as far as I could tell. Both times I called support and let them know I couldn’t get in the store. Then they hit my standing for two ToS violations for failing to pick up orders. I thought I had resolved it previously after talking with support who escalated it and it got taken off but for some reason, they showed back up on my standing after 2-3 weeks of being off it. Idk if their system just flags stuff like that or it was reviewed again but what do I do? I talked with support again who said they’d escalate it to have it taken off again (even the support guy said it was weird the violations showed back up) but I mean, isn’t it a violation of Amazon’s contract with me to penalize me for something I can’t control but they should fix in their system? I’m sure other people around here have dealt with the same issue which is probably pretty frustrating if they send out blocks at times people can’t access the store. It’s pretty stupid since I had a fantastic standing shot down to just barely fair. Gives me like zero leeway in case I have any late packages or in the event I have to late cancel a block which is basically never but still.

Whole Foods is closed, still got dinged.

The Whole Foods I was supposed to deliver parcels from was closed at 9pm and is so every day of the week. 6am-9pm. I took a 9:30-11pm block and a 10-11pm block within days of each other. On my part, yes I should’ve googled when the store closed. But like, they offered the contract, so I took the opportunity. Later they dinged me for failing to pick up orders so I emailed and emailed and chatted over and over to get it corrected. They finally corrected my standing after like 4 email exchanges and 2 chats telling them their own store was closed so I couldn’t pick up orders. I finally asked “so do I pick up orders by any means necessary?” and they fixed my standing after that response. I mean if you’re going to mess up my standing at least give me a good reason. If your store is closed and Amazon should know it is, why should I be dinged?

During a Whole Foods route today

A, assumed, homeless person jumped out in front of my car today and I had to swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting him. Unfortunately I dont have any dashcam footage of the actual event because my other car is in the shop with the dashcam installed in that one. I took this footage with my phone mounted on the dash of the interaction. I came within maybe half a foot to a foot of hitting him. I would’ve felt horrible had I hit him, I was going 40mph so I can’t imagine he’d be alright. Just another day delivering.

Edit: It isn’t an illegal u-turn. At least where I live.

“In Oklahoma, a U-turn is illegal if it cannot be executed safely or if it interferes with other traffic. It is specifically prohibited if you do not have at least 500 feet of visibility in both directions (such as near the crest of a hill or on a curve), if you need to back up to complete it, or if a posted sign forbids it.”

I paid for someone else’s veterinarian bill

Location: Tulsa, OK

So a little background, me and my fiancée took in her friend’s dog because they were in the process of leaving their apartment and moving in somewhere else. They couldn’t have the dog at their families residence so me and my fiancée agreed to dog-watch for a month. An incident occurred where a stray dog managed to get inside our house and attack the dog we were watching so police dealt with the stray (took him to animal welfare) and we had to take him to the vet for staples and a rabies shot. Comes out to around $420 after taxes and I put it on a Klarna plan to pay off over time. Again, this is not our dog. Eventually we end up watching this dog for months, around 3.5 in total before the friend found another person to watch the dog before they come and pick it up. The friend only bought one bag of food for him the whole time, never sent any money for the vet bill after agreeing to pay us some, we had to cover like 3 large bags of dog food for like $150 total. Dog caused a bunch of damage to our carpet, destroyed our property and a TV, chewed on shoes, broke one-of-a-kind keepsakes, etc. Around $1,200 in damage and the vet bill. The other person who was watching the dog got pulled to the ground and the dog ran off a couple nights before the friend’s fiancée got on a plane to come pick his car up and drive it and the dog to Massachusetts. The dog ends up in the pound and the owner and me got in a yelling match over the phone with him at one point threatening to drive to my house and beat me up because somehow it was our fault another person lost the dog? Anyway, long story short the “friend” never compensated us for any of the dogs care or the property destroyed, and from what I read in Oklahoma law the dog isn’t even theirs anymore based on abandoned property laws yet they picked it up from the shelter and took it back to MA without paying us. I’m wondering what should I do to get payment, contact them and ask again or take them to small claims court? Thank you.
