What’s your preferred approach for image and video picking on Android?

I’ve been working on an Android project that needs to handle image and video selection, camera capture, resizing, and both single and multiple image selection.

I’m curious how other Android developers approach this using native Android APIs.

Do you usually use the system Photo Picker, ActivityResultContracts, or build an abstraction around them?

I’m particularly interested in how you handle:

Multiple image selection

Camera capture and permissions

Image resizing

Supporting both Compose and XML

Different Android API levels

What approach have you found works best for native Android applications?

Multicolored strip appears at the bottom of the screen (Pixel 10 Pro)

My wife bought her Pixel 10 Pro about three months ago, and we've noticed a strange issue. Randomly, while the phone is asleep, a multicolored strip appears at the bottom of the screen, accompanied by occasional flickering and other visual artifacts. The problem is intermittent—it comes and goes, and there is no physical damage to the device.

At first, I suspected it might be related to Face Unlock, so I disabled it. I also submitted a feedback report directly from the phone, and the issue disappeared for a while. However, after the July software update, it started happening again. On some days, it can occur up to three times.

Check here the issue: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/436988976?hl=en

My question is: could this be a software issue, or is it more likely to be a hardware problem?
