Max was bought off a Craigslist ad, it was an unexpected purchase. As I am walking up the the house, the garage door is automatically opening, and in a cage with a fence around it. No food, no toys. Just water and a pee mat. I felt very drawn to him and he was also 800$. My husband stated we will be back but I knew that meant NO. Without a second thought, I told the owner can do we ZELLE? And he said yes.. 5 mins later he’s coming home with us. Max has been very sketched out and hesitant even as a pup, I don’t know what he went through but I know it deeply scarred him to the point he would pee off any loud noise from being scared.. after 4 years of having him, recently took him to the beach like many times before, he has NEVER liked the water and always avoided it.. finally after a few come in and your such a good boys he stepped into the shore of the water… and immediately started running around with the zoomies.. out of every time we’ve taken him with us, he never even got near the water.. this is a huge accomplishment but also tells me how long even after being away from his abuser that he carries that burden of fear… I hope as his owner that i can help heal him as much as he heals me..
