Building a Tiny Workshop Inside My Garage — Day 1

I’m turning one corner of my garage into a tiny workshop—and this is just the beginning!
It won’t be big, but it’ll be a dedicated space to build, repair, and experiment. Follow along as I transform this empty corner step by step. 👍
First up: the base. I used 6-foot 2x4s to build the frame, so getting started was pretty straightforward.
By the end of the day, I had one wall up and the workshop was finally starting to take shape. There’s still a long way to go, but I’ll be sharing the progress as it comes—so stay tuned!
And while cleaning up the garage, I stumbled across a spare E07A engine. 😂 Maybe that’ll be another project once the workshop is ready.

YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR KT Y828C 145/80R12👍

I finally got the tires mounted!!
I’m absolutely stoked! 👍
They look so cool, and they give me a really reassuring feeling on the road too!!
They’re actually quieter and softer than I expected.
I’m thinking of taking them out on some dirt roads in the mountains this weekend!!
Can’t wait!! 🤙

I’m slowly getting there with the paint!
This is a gray chip-resistant coating, but it’s actually meant for underbody use.
I haven’t decided on the final color yet, but I’m leaning toward something with the same kind of vibe as the last photo — which was AI-generated!

The work on my Beat for its inspection is finally done!
I replaced the entire cooling system, which had been worrying me since it was still mostly original. I even upgraded the radiator and replaced the cooling fan.
Now I can drive it with peace of mind. 👍
Heat is one of the weak points of the Beat’s engine, so I’m also going to install a water temperature gauge! 🌡️

HONDA Beat

There was a slight exhaust leak that I could hear.
I fixed it myself before taking the car in for its inspection!
I replaced the three gaskets with new ones: the spherical gasket, the ring gasket, and the exhaust manifold gasket.
While I had everything apart, I also cleaned off the rust and carbon buildup with a wire brush.
Thankfully, the exhaust leak is completely fixed now! 👍

Do you have vehicle inspections like shaken in your country, too?
I did some maintenance myself today to get the car ready for its inspection.
I'll leave the rest to a Honda Beat specialist, though!
The Beat is over 30 years old, so l've been gradually working through the maintenance. This time, I'm planning to refresh the entire cooling system.
I'm thinking of replacing the radiator, cooling fan, hoses, and other related parts with new ones.

I bought this Vamos in a snowy part of Japan, so it had rust in quite a few places. The sliding door was no exception—the bottom was badly rusted and falling apart 😅
It was difficult to make the body filler look nice, so I cut a sheet of aluminum and riveted it on instead! I originally wanted to use diamond plate, like you often see on off-road Jimnys, but that stuff is surprisingly expensive 😱 So I settled for a cheaper aluminum sheet instead 👍

tiny garage
