Evening walkers, before or after dinner?

If you go out for an evening stroll, do you take your toddlers before or after dinner? If you go after dinner, do you all do another snack?

When do children gain some sense of spatial awareness?

My 5 year old has 0 sense of self awareness for how she exists in a space relative to objects or other people, which causes her to have so many accidents.

For example, if I am sitting on the sofa having a drink and have the drink sitting next to me on the floor I have to keep reminding her to watch out because she will inevitably knock over the can/glass. Whether its walking by and knocking it over, or throwing a ball too close...

Another example, she had on rollerskates and decided to try to climb into the playpen with my toddlers and it never occurred to her that bringing her leg over the wall so close to the baby was a hazard so she accidentally knocked him in the head with the wheel of the skate.

I had a plate of food sitting next to me on a bench and she wanted to sit next to me and cuddle and paid zero attention to the plate and flopped right down in it...almost like she didn't see it.

This happens so often I figured it was a developmental milestone of some sort. She has a complete lack of thoughtfulness as it pertains to how she exists in spaces. I also wonder if there is anything I can do more to help her gain more awareness.

Had Fazoli's and it was good.

It was pretty good! I was actually surprised. Nice, fresh and hot. Courteous staff, the drive thru moved at a decent pace.Definitely good enough to grab in a pinch on or on Friday night when you don't feel like cooking.

Will say I am disappointed they had staff outside taking orders in the rain with no rain gear though.

But the food was so much better than I was expecting. We had the ziti, meatballs, pizza and a sub sandwich. Was able to feed a family of 4 for right around $40, with soem leftovers. So not too bad.

El Pollon on Pensacola?

Cruising down Pensacola and I noticed El Pollon, a peruvian chicken joint. Has anyone tried it? Are they even open yet? I didn't see any cars. I absolutely love Peruvian rotisserie chicken and lomo saltado. So I am super excited about the prospects.

Commissioner Matlow wants Goad out of here NOW!

TLDR: Commissioner Matlow is calling for Goad to resign by May 29, 2026, after a HUD investigation found the city spent federal grant money outside program guidelines. He also calls for a forensic audit, a pause on further housing grant work, and criminal review of how Goad and Budget Director Adam Jacobs handled the funds.

Full post below

_________________

Today, I request Reese Goad to end his tenure with the city of Tallahassee by May 29, 2026 and call for a forensic audit and criminal review of the city’s expenditure of federal housing grants.

The embarrassment of public corruption amid allegations and findings by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development against the City of Tallahassee is the very last straw we can take.

Reese Goad as City Manager and approvals by Adam Jacobs Budget Director for the COT housing department underscores the poor judgement of Reese Goad, again. The city Manager and his managers have cost the city another political, financial, and reputational black eye.

This is a dark moment for our city government. Children who are exposed to lead based products in their homes were supposed to receive upgraded refurbishing to rid their environment of lead-based toxins and poisoning. Thanks to the US H.U.D grant.

Yet the program to help poor children and citizens may not be completed as the H.U.D. investigations found outlandish spending well outside the guidelines of the H.U.D grant and beyond common sense.

It is so unfair that poor children will be hit the hardest as they must linger in an environment where lead base poisons exist. We as a government should want to service all people fairly and generously.

However, abusing funds intended to relieve human suffering and exposures to toxins is conduct deserving criminal review. My heart aches when greed extorts benefits and help from our neediest neighbor.

Both Mr. Goad and his staff have let down our city government. This is why I am asking my fellow city commission colleagues to agree that Mr. Goad should leave by the end of this month and I am further asking the Housing Department temporarily suspend further grant work until all accounting for public dollars is reviewed and investigated.

In addition, I am requesting the city hire a firm to perform a forensic audit to safe guard the integrity of other housing programs.

The stunningly embarrassing revelations of mismanagement by the federal government proves the corruptive practices in areas of our government where money is exchanged outside of public view.

This lack of foundational discipline and accountability is exactly why our next city manager must be chosen by a new city commission who wants a higher standard of performance than the status quo.

2 year old sharing room with a 6 year old?

Any one with experience with this age gap sharing a room? Wondering what it would be like for my girls to share a room at these ages I’m on the fence and leaning toward no but would love some feedback from those who have tried it.
