Competition Enterprise

Well worth participating. This year the multiple winner, Chris Gill is participating in a 1950's Slingsby Eagle type 42. Affectionately known as the flying sideboard. Chris usually wipes up flying an Arcus M, but a couple of years ago flew the LS4 and still wiped the floor against everything from club class ships to 18m ships like the ASG29.

Day 3 and Chris is in his second field, a tough day but the handicap will pay dividends.

Enterprise is a great format, placing value on extracting the most from a soaring day with a bit of fun thrown in!

Child support / division of assets

My daughter and her ex have 3 kids, our 3 grandsons. Things fell apart about 2 1/2 years ago.

She kicked him out. He is mommys boy and the family is in a position to help him both financially and with a roof over his head etc. They have been known to go on holiday with stacks of cash that I doubt is 'on the books'. With my daughter saying she has knowingly crossed into Spain with 10k at a time. The parents home has furnishings that match the care facility that the mother runs. You get the drift.

After a year or so of 'co-parenting' and significant legal bills on my daughters part she reached the end of her tether and sued for divorce, apparently asking for 'forensic accounting'. He runs his own engineering based company and does quite well off it. ( bought several vehicles cash and some tooling and appliances that cost significant amounts of money and was proud to show them off at the time )

The divorce was granted last month.

My daughter now gets state child maintenance and sod all else.

There is a custody agreement where the kids spend alternate weekends with their grandparents ( rarely their father ) whose solution to everything is throwing money at the kids. This of course is a source of a lot of problems and behaviour issues, kids come home and complain about not being allowed to pick some expensive, useless toy up here or another mouthfull of sugar loaded 'treats' there.

He has completely ignored the forensic accounting requests, the business was co-founded by them during the marriage and my daughter put huge effort into running it and promoting it and helping him build it up. He continues to ignore all requests for support or division of the business etc.

She also has no money left to pursue legal advice.

Can he simply ignore the forensic accounting request indefinayely

Can he drag this out indefinately.

Can he continue to not contribute to the childrens support at home?

Can anyone offer some advice is there another way to pursue this?

Thanks, a frustrated and angry parent and grandparent.

A bit of fun.

16 or 17 years ago I took a snap of my daughter in the front seat of SGC's DG 505. Yesterday I flew with her again for the first time since then, a lifetime and 3 grandkids ago. We recreated a favorite photo.

And made some video!

Comments about landing with a slight tailwind will be ignored, we regularly do so in benign conditions to speed up ops with reciprocal landings, especially when the field is not busy ....... only us flying!

Sunday morning charging.

Pull in to Gloucester Westmoreland Farm Services. Always stop here as I have a Tesla subscription for charging my Uoniq 5. The coffee is good too.

Plug in to 1A ...... nothing. 1B ...... nothing. 2D ......nothing. 2C ... this charger may be occupied.....nope. no one here so go ahead. Charging started! But no indication from vehicle.... Hmm this could be fun. Hang on .... I'm southbound not northbound. Stop charging ..... 5p spent! Swap the App to the correct location.

Plug back in to 2D..... start ... and off we go!

Muppet! Too early on a Sunday morning! 😀😃🙂🙃😊😇😀😃

Thermalling together.

Caught up with ZS ( JS1 Jet 18m ) out on task. About 350 k into yesterday's 500. I was backseating in the clubs Arcus M, watching how our star CFI does things. We overtook him and went left of track. He went right ..... and smoked us! Regaining the 30km or so that he had at the start. Brilliant day out in the UK. Some big climbs and some surprises .... big, dark bottomed cu's with nothing more than bubbles of 1 knot under them!

1357km ....... in the UK!

Chris Gill just landed after an epic, record setting flight from Denbigh. Using wave for the first part and then the late afternoon thermals to stretch the free distance Chris just extended the 3 turnpoint distance record for the UK from 1100 km to 1357 km!

06:15 winch launch and use the motor to contact the local wave, climb to fl194 and cross the water 120 km to the Lake District. then across the width of the UK. 4 times and back across the water to pass the home field and almost make it to Aston Down.

A truly epic flight!

Zigbee oil tank monitor.

I gave up trying to get an oil tank level sensor that 'just worked' with my installation.

So I developed my own.

ESP32-C6 + A02YYUW Ultrasonic Sensor and I added a BME280 breakout.

The assembly sits outdoors installed in the top of my oil tank so using the system to get the outside temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure was a good idea. I may update it to add a light sensor to read ambient light levels too.

I haven't bothered yet with powering it off solar and or batteries but that's an easy step and for the moment I have a wall wart feeding the sensor with 5v.

Integrated straight away with my Zigbee network.

Well that's a first!

Guess which house I was delivering to! Yup the one that 2 appliances had just finished putting out the fire in!

High tow

Not quite a Perlan tow but around 1/3 their height. We were asked to test the real world capabilities of a Eurofox 915is tug for the benefit of someone looking in to renewing their tug fleet operating off a hot/high airfield.

Climb rate was good right up to about 14500' and then tapered off. At 16000' climb rate dropped to 1kt so we knocked it off.

Eurofox 915is and DG1001 Neo, fixed gear and about 190 kg in the seats. At 16000' the temperature was around -5°C so 12° above Standard for a density alt of about 17500'.

Eurofox tugs are very capable!
