im high so this is gonna bee rambling but i just finished the first season and i think i like completely missed tbe point of pluribus like idkkk i wanna be a superorganism... the only issue i have qith their hivemind is the whole never kill/hurt anything thing cuz a proper superorganism would have the survival instincts to kill for food

like i see people complainung that the average of humanity should be keeping all the cultural practices or languages alive or whatever but a hivemind isn't the average of humanity it's just like. knowing exactly what everyone else is thinking and their memories and their feelings and experiences. and like, if you knew exactly why someone was a certain way and believed a certain thing and could experience the exact same internal feelings/instincts that they could, why wouldn't you agree with them? yk how there are people out there who have no internal monologues but still "think" somehow? the hivemind wouldn't need language because all the thoughts are sent with the same efficiency as your brain signaling your body to move a muscle. a hivemind isn't exactly scary if it's a propwr functional superorganism cuz then it's just like, cells in a body ? it also seems like the virus only assimilates humans, so what if other variants only assimilate other organisms, thereby leaving a variety of different superorganisms in the universe who can't assimilate with each other? that would ultimately make it like a multicellular organism but more complex.

or at least, thats how a proper, healthy hivemind should work imo! pluribus freaks have the issue of having no t cells, macrophages, immune system of any kind. they happily starve themselves and cannibalise themselves and that's not pleasant! if they truly contained every mind on the planet, they would realize that loving all life means letting natural cycles persist and go on! also if they cared about how wonderful all the experiences of humanity are, they wouldn't free every animal, because discovery and learning and research is an integral part of humanity!

so .. . i guess i just had romanticized hopes for what the hivemind was? considering all the evidence in the series, it IS pretty clear that the virus truly is a *virus*, with it's sole purpose being to replicate and spread, and it's method just happens to be pacifying their host? it just pisses me off tho when people are talking about how sinister thr hivemind is and mentioning pretty normal hivemind stuff that isn't weird! u say they only pretend to preserve cultures to appeal to the imnune ones but even alone they still put on clothes, they still pick outfits and arrange stuff in a visually pleasant way, they have a sense of beauty they apply differently according to each individual.

then theres the complaint that they never pursue anything just for pleasure? they treat each body in the hive with gentleness and despite *eating dead people* they initially do their best to collect and dispose of bodies without damaging them further, even if that reduces efficiency and isn't witnessed by anyone. there are many situations where they don't need to be clothed, and if it was just to protect from exposure to the elements, surely they would all wear similar lengths of clothes, but even unobserved they wear various different cuts and styles.

the hivemind could have been truly good! the only issue is truly tjusr the starving/people eating!

also, i would be perfectly happy with dating the entire human race combined into a consciousnesss, like it would be flattering for that to love me! i understand Carol being put off by them saying they love everyone the same though cuz like a hivemind should still have the survival instincts to take issue with threats!
