I've enjoyed two weeks spent with a himi tubes set way more than internet comments implied I will.
It turned out to be a pleasant surprise, and a very cool fast painting medium. I'm very impressed, given their very modest price. The lack of drying tone shift is absolutely great, since it's not an acrylic-based medium, and does not kill the brushes as fast.

I see spontaneous reports that the new Derwent drawing pencils are less creamy, more dry, and less lightfast than the old pencils sold before late 2025; this concerns all pencils sold in the new box design (the tiger one.)
We don't have direct shipping from derwent in my country at the moment, so all the pencils available are a roundabout import, typically through China, and I'm not sure if I should even bother with purchasing at this time, given that the 72 set is pushing $200, and I can't buy a smaller pack to try them out.
Can someone who used both old and new editions comment on how similar/different they are? Is there a noticeable change to the drawing feel?
One comment that stood out to me was in regards to a "very dry" Chinese white in the new set, which does not feel like the one I have from the 24 box I got before and repurchased again before the new pencils released.
Another complaint involved streaky pigments in some of the pencils, but Derwent sometimes has it in the legit stock too, so I'm not too concerned.
Thank you!
