Alocasia zebrina

My mom gifted me a beautiful Alocasia zebrina about 10 days ago and I’m already obsessed with her. A week ago I repotted her into an aroid mix and watered with distilled water. She’s currently sitting on a table about 2 meters (6.5 ft) from a south-west facing window.

This is my first Alocasia and I know they have a reputation for being dramatic — I really don’t want to lose her. Would love any advice on:

•	Watering: how often, how to check when she actually needs it
•	Light: is 2m from a SW window enough, or should I move her closer?
•	Fertilizing: when to start after repotting, and what to use
•	Common mistakes first-time Alocasia owners make

Any tips from experienced growers are super welcome. She means a lot to me!

Help with whatever this plant is

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help identifying and (hopefully) saving this plant.

I bought it about two years ago believing it might be an Anthurium crystallinum, but I’m not 100% sure, I’d love a confirmation or correction if anyone knows better.

Here’s what’s been happening: when I first got it, it had several beautiful leaves. Over time, they dried up and fell off one by one, including new growth that would emerge and then die shortly after. When the very last leaf was about to drop, a new bud appeared — but the leaf that grew from it stayed much smaller than all the previous ones.

At some point I suspected the pot size might have been wrong and that waterlogging could have been an issue, so I repotted it into a smaller container. When I did, I noticed the roots looked quite numerous relative to the plant’s current size, but they all appeared healthy.

The plant is indoor, near a south west facing window, I’m trying to water it just when the top 3/4 cm of soil is dry.

I’m attaching a photo from when I first bought it so you can see what it looked like originally one of the Moment I’ve decided to change the pot and a more recent one.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice on care, diagnosis, or recovery would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
