How far in the past can you still use passato prossimo before having to use passato remoto?

Native English speaker trying to brush up on my passato remoto. In daily speech when is something remote with that it needs passato remoto? In formal, academic writing at what point does passato remoto become necessary? My professors told me that this also largely depends on region. So does this answer differ where you're from?

By Salerno is there a word like «gamberoni» for italoamericani?

Hi guys,

This past summer I was driving by Mercato San Severino when the Polizia di Stato stopped me at a checkpoint it My wife. My Italian is decent and i answered the police officers questions. When i explained my wife's nonno was from mercato san severino so i was showing her where he came from i could've sworn he said «in questa zona gli italoamericani si chiamano gamberoni »

I never heard that before. I'm assuming that means large prawns/shrimps but was curious if anyone could clarify if that is the word or what the poliziotto might have said.

Two questions about Québécois French

Hi everyone!

Let me start with my French is very meh, i want to improve it. I love Québec to almost an absurd level seeing as I'm American and visit frequently.

On this most recent trip i pushed myself to use more French and I noticed that in Montreal even if I walked into a shop or a restaurant at night and I said «bonsoir» thé staff would often respond «bonjour. »

Is that common in Québec ? It happened a few times.

Would anyone have any good YouTube channels/podcasts/etc i could practice hearing the Québécois accent with? I had an easier time understanding African can drivers speaking French than I did with the lovely people of Québec.

When you screw up your compost pile and the people ask if something died

I garden at a church and do something of a Ruth Stout style insane mulching. But I also do regular composting. I saw a bunch of neighbors were getting rid of grass clippings and these are hippy dippy people who don't treat their lawns. I went to aggressively mulch with the grass clippings but those clippings must've been in lawn bags a week they stunk to high heaven.

So i panic and think that i should put some half finished compost on top with lots of partially composted wood chips. Well despite my efforts to turn compost regularly it must've gone aerobic as well.

As I'm scooping compost the stench of the garden is getting worse. I'm fully panicking because this is an urban garden. Then who do I see but the priest from the church. An African fellow. I say hi to him. He comes back five minutes later
"nooobee, is there a dead animal back here" his face very concerned.
"um, sorry, father, it's just my mulching and compost" "oh...." He said relieved "so it only smells like a dead animal but there isn't one?" he asked earnestly.

"No father.... um if any neighbors ask tell them I'm getting a bunch of wood chips and this will smell better soon"

i couldn't help but thinking of when someone's fart smells and a dude bro asks what crawled up their ass and died.

I went to the nearest Facebook marketplace person getting rid of arborist wood chips and fortunately a generous sprinkling of wood chips over the portal to Satan's rectum that I was calling Garden mulch did remedy the situation before kids got home from school.

I love being an exposure therapist!

I was doing exposure with a teenaged client talking about accepting living in a world full of unexpected challenges. This is of course 80% of what I'm doing in a given week. The client and both parents were present.

I got up to give my client a distressing stimulus that he was avoiding for years. I sat back down in my chair and i split my dress pants, very audibly, at the crotch and buttocks .... I believe the ghosts of Jack Rackman and Edna Foa wanted me to be humble and practice what I preach. I quickly covered myself with my therapist blanket and we had a good laugh. But yes life is filled with unexpected challenges like splitting your pants.
