Come make new friends! - Saturday, 9/19 7 PM

i listened to everyone’s input and we’ve got a date and venue!

the idea: we will have a “speed dating” style set-up where you sit down with each person for 5 mins and play games before moving onto the next
once the “circuit” is over, everyone can drink, play games, socialize, do whatever they want!

location: Putter’s Arcade & Bar 320 S. 2nd St. Waco, TX

time: Saturday, September 19th, 7 PM until whenever

18+ aged adults & all genders welcome

if you want to participate in the “speed dating” please arrive at or before 7 PM

also, if we get there and the “speed dating” style setup isn’t the vibe - we can just play it by ear! it’s a bar and arcade, after all, so there are a lot of ways to break the ice

please keep in mind: this is a PLATONIC event for adults in Waco to make new friends. this is NOT a dating event, so please don’t arrive with those intentions. if you happen to meet the love of your life - that’s great! however, this event is for people looking for new friends

Has anyone successfully trained their pyr?

i’ve had my boy for 9 months and i love him like a son. that being said…i cannot. train. him.

he is a rescue from a neglect situation so i’m giving him as much time as he needs, but in 9 months, i haven’t even gotten him to Sit on command. he’s so gentle and sweet and affectionate but he is STUBBORN, and i can never get him to do, well, anything he doesn’t want to lol

i’m happy to accept him exactly the way he is, but i had to come and ask if anyone possibly started out in this same situation and ended with a well-trained dog? am i delusional?

note: i have trained several dogs before with success but this is my first Pyr

Speed dating event to meet friends?

if i hosted a speed dating-style event to help people meet friends, would any of you be interested in attending?

the idea would be almost exactly like speed dating:
we all meet at a public space and you get 5 mins with each person to see if there’s a friendship connection before moving on to the next person

there could be separate events for men and women (or however you identify), different events for the different age groups, etc.

before i start planning, would anyone be interested in this? does anyone have any input?

i see a lot of posts on here about people looking for friends and think an event like this would be useful to help everyone meet new people!

let me know what everyone thinks!

again, all input and ideas are welcome :)

Weird girl lit that ISN’T male-centered?

i finished I’m a Fan recently and couldn’t stand how male-centered it was. i just started Lustre by Raven Leilani today and i’m getting very similar male-centered/sex-heavy vibes

what weird girl lit books do you recommend that aren’t all about men and sex?

i’ve loved: Sky Daddy, Animal, Evil Genius, Best Offer Wins, Made for Love, Worry, The Guest, I Who Have Never Known Men

i’ve disliked: Open Wide, The Compound, The Girls, Annie Bot

A book that is genuinely terrifying me…

I’m currently reading “Baby Teeth” by Zoje Stage and, as someone who doesn’t get scared by books very easily, i had to come post on here to say this book is LEGITIMATELY scaring me!!

i’m only halfway through so i’ll come amend this review if it turns out to be shit, but i am getting chills down my spine reading this. for reference, the only books that have actually scared me are The Shining and (parts of) We Used to Live Here

for anyone interested in the plot of Baby Teeth: “Baby Teeth tells the unsettling tale of Hanna, a mute seven-year-old girl who desires to remove her mother from the picture entirely. Hanna’s adoration for her father blinds him to her increasingly sinister behavior. Meanwhile, Suzette, her mother, struggles with her daughter’s dark tendencies while managing her own deteriorating health.”

i’d compare it to The Omen or We Need to Talk About Kevin

If you’re the one who put these angels in a cardboard box and threw them away in a dumpster behind Fairgate Plaza - I promise it’s over for you.

This is not the first, second, or third, cat who
has been dumped at Fairgate Plaza in the last few years and, if you think it’s acceptable to put living creatures in a box and throw them away in a dumpster, I swear on all that is good - I will find out who you are, and you will pay for this.
If the courts won’t deal with you, I will personally.
There is never an excuse to do this to an animal.
If you’re desperate to get rid of a cat, you can drop it off at the shelter, or at a park, at the Humane Society, at the ABC Clinic, or literally any public space.
There is never, ever a legitimate reason to put animals in a public dumpster so they can be trash compacted and killed.
If you did this, or if you disposed of any of the numerous animals who have been dumped at Fairgate Plaza, you are a disgusting, evil monster, and you will be found and dealt with.
There are a thousand different ways you could’ve handled this, and you chose to throw away an innocent cat and her baby like trash. You will pay for this.
